Thornton (2-2) took the loss Saturday, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings as the Mets were downed 6-2 by the Marlins. He struck out two.

The rookie southpaw needed 94 pitches (56 strikes) to record 14 outs in his shortest outing since he returned to the big-league rotation in late June, with the three free passes being a season high in the majors. Over five starts since then, Thornton has delivered a 2.10 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB over 30 innings as he establishes himself as a part of the Mets' 2027 rotation plans. He'll look to bounce back in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Pittsburgh.

Atlanta acquired Thomas and left-hander Bailey Falter from Kansas City on Saturday in exchange for left-hander Carter Holton and right-hander Lucas Braun, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Thomas was removed ahead of the fourth inning of the Royals' game against the Rockies on Saturday, and Passan's report came out a short while later indicating that the veteran outfielder was dealt for the second time in the last three trade deadlines. Though he had been serving as the Royals' primary center fielder since Kyle Isbel (foot) landed on the 10-day injured list in early June, Thomas will likely serve as a fourth outfielder in Atlanta, with most of his opportunities likely to come against right-hander pitching. Thomas entered Saturday with a .230/.325/.392 slash line with 10 home runs and seven stolen bases across 326 plate appearances this season.

Conine went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Mets.

Getting the start at DH and batting ninth, Conine took Daniel Duarte deep in the sixth inning for his 10th homer of the season and third in the last six games. Owen Caissie (calf) was activated from the IL on Saturday, giving Conine more competition for playing time, but he's performing well enough to maintain a regular spot in the lineup against right-handed pitching. Over his last 28 games, Conine is batting .313 (25-for-80) with eight long balls, 15 runs and 16 RBI.

Bachar recorded his second save of the season in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Mets, allowing one hit and striking out two over three scoreless relief innings.

The right-hander needed just 35 pitches (26 strikes) to get the job done and give most of the rest of the Marlins' bullpen a breather. The three innings tied for Bachar's longest appearance of the season, and a bumpy July may have taken him out of the mix for higher-leverage opportunities. Over his last 13.2 innings, Bachar has served up four homers and stumbled to a 6.58 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB.

Phillips (3-5) picked up the win Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits over five innings in a 6-2 victory over the Mets. He struck out three without walking a batter.

A Tyrone Taylor homer in the second inning accounted for all the damage off Phillips, who tossed an efficient 65 pitches (44 strikes) before exiting. The right-hander has given up two earned runs or fewer in five straight outings, a stretch in which he's gone just 2-2 but has a 3.54 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB over 20.1 innings. Phillips is set to make his next start at home next weekend against the Angels.

Munoz (4-4) picked up the win Saturday in a 4-3 victory over the Twins, giving up a hit and striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

The closer worked a clean ninth inning in a 3-3 tie and was rewarded for his efforts when Seattle walked it off in the bottom of the frame. It was Munoz's first win since April 22, but he's been plenty effective of late. Over nine appearances and nine innings since the beginning of July, Munoz has produced a 1.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB while converting all four of his save chances.

Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Twins.

The 31-year-old outfielder crossed the plate in the first inning after a walk, took Connor Prielipp deep in the second to give the Mariners a 3-0 lead, then dashed home with the winning run in the ninth on a Cal Raleigh groundout. Arozarena has gone yard three times in the last seven games, giving him 14 homers on the year, and since the beginning of July he's batting .283 (26-for-92) with six home runs, one steal, 12 RBI and 20 runs in 25 contests.

Gilbert didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Twins, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out six.

Solo homers by Luke Keaschall in the fifth inning and Trevor Larnach in the sixth helped cost Gilbert his ninth win of the season, as he squandered an early 3-0 lead and had to settle for his 11th quality start. It's the first time he's served up multiple long balls in a start since June 2, but the right-hander has been tagged with at least three earned runs in five of his last six trips to the mound, leaving him with a 3.86 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 39:6 K:BB over 39.2 innings during that span. Gilbert will look to get back in the win column in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Rays.

Stock will be called up from Triple-A Syracuse to start the Mets' series finale against the Marlins on Sunday, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports.

Stock is in line to make his first major-league appearance since June 8, 2025 and his first start in the majors since 2021. The 36-year-old right-hander opened the season on the shelf at Syracuse while recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery, which he underwent in March. He was cleared to begin a rehab assignment June 19 and allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out nine across 7.2 frames in two starts upon returning from Syracuse's injured list earlier this month. Stock will likely be in line for a limited workload Sunday and may be in store for just one start until the Mets get Clay Holmes (fibula) back from the 60-day IL.

Prielipp didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Mariners, giving up three runs on four hits and four walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.

The rookie left-hander tossed 58 of 88 pitches for strikes in a shaky performance and found himself in a 3-0 hole after two innings, but Prielipp avoided his sixth loss of the season when his offense rallied to tie it up once he's hit the showers. Despite missing time in June due to a blister problem, Prielipp has given up three earned runs or fewer in five straight outings dating back to June 19, posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB over 28 innings during that stretch. He'll look to tighten things up in his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Milwaukee.
