Perez (8-8) took the loss Saturday, giving up four runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks over four innings as Atlanta was downed 4-1 by the Brewers. He struck out two.

Perez's own error in the third inning helped soften the blow to his ERA, but the veteran southpaw still needed 97 pitches (58 strikes) to record just 12 outs. He's been feast or famine since the All-Star break, holding the opposition scoreless in four outings but stumbling to a 5.14 ERA in his other three. Perez will look to bounce back in his next start, which is set to come at home next weekend against the Rockies.

Hill was removed from Saturday's game against the Cardinals due to neck stiffness, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Hill went 1-for-2 with an RBI double before being replaced by Justin Crawford in the sixth inning. The Phillies should have an update on Hill once he undergoes more tests, but he is in jeopardy of being out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale.

The veteran slugger gave the Blue Jays a quick lead with an RBI single in the first inning, which they never relinquished. Springer has multiple hits in three of his last five games, an impressive turnaround after he'd gone 14 straight contests without a multi-hit showing. He's still looking for his first home run in August, batting .262 (16-for-61) on the month with two doubles, a triple, three steals, seven runs and seven RBI over 20 games.

Varland gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his 29th save of the season in a 4-3 win over the Yankees.

New York did all its scoring in the seventh and eighth innings, but Varland snuffed out the rally on 21 pitches (12 strikes). The right-hander has converted five straight save chances, and over 20.1 innings since the beginning of July he's produced a 1.77 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB.

Cease (8-5) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and five walks over 6.2 innings in a 4-3 victory over the Yankees. He struck out eight.

The right-hander struggled to find the strike zone at times, but New York hitters couldn't do much when he did get the ball over the plate -- Cease took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning, only to have it broken up by a Jazz Chisholm single. Cease leads the American League in strikeouts on the season with 209, and his ERA (2.37) is second only to Cam Schlittler's 2.16, as the duo gets ready to duke it out for the Cy Young Award over the final weeks. Cease lines up to make his next start at home next weekend against the Mariners.

Donovan (undisclosed) was a late scratch for Saturday's game against the Cubs, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

The Mariners waited until the very last moment to make a lineup change, and the severity of Donovan's unspecified injury is unclear. Weston Wilson is in at third base in Donovan's absence.

Arraez was removed from Saturday's game against the Cardinals due to lower-body cramps, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Arraez went 1-for-2 with a run scored before being replaced by Bryson Stott at second base in the fourth inning. It doesn't appear to be a serious injury for Arraez, but the injury may prevent him from being in the lineup for Sunday's series finale.

Martin (finger) threw two simulated innings during a 35-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

Martin has been on the injured list since last weekend with a finger blister, and manager Will Venable said that the right-hander may need just one more side session before heading out on a rehab assignment. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, Martin could be cleared to return from the IL around the time he's eligible Aug. 30.

The Red Sox reinstated Rivera (personal) from the restricted list Saturday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Rivera went on the restricted list Monday to deal with a personal matter, and although he is no longer on the restricted list, he remains inactive at Triple-A Worcester due to an undisclosed injury.
