Petty (blister) took the loss after allowing seven runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out one over three innings against Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday.

Petty battled a blister on his pitching hand in his previous start, but he was cleared to toe the rubber Sunday. He turned in one of his worst outings of the 2026 season, tying a season high in hits allowed and runs allowed. Unless the team states otherwise, Petty appears to have put the blister behind him.

Roberts allowed a run on three hits and a walk across 1.2 innings of relief in Monday's 9-3 loss to the Brewers.

Roberts got the call early with Shota Imanaga getting shelled for eight runs in only 4.1 innings of work. The former slowed down Milwaukee a bit, though he did allow his first run of the season in the process. Roberts is still sitting with a stellar 0.96 ERA in 9.1 innings across seven appearances this year, and he might need to take on a larger bullpen role moving forward with Caleb Thielbar (hamstring) and Riley Martin (elbow) both on the 15-day injured list, and Hunter Harvey (triceps) on the 60-day injured list.

Cunningham (concussion) was activated from the 7-day injured list Friday.

Cunningham landed on the injured list May 8 after suffering a concussion, but he returned over the weekend for Single-A Fresno. He's 3-for-14 with three RBI, two stolen bases and four runs scored in three games since being activated.

Blach tossed three scoreless innings of relief in Monday's 9-3 loss to the Brewers. He allowed one hit and struck out two.

Blach had his contract selected from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, and he made his team debut a day later. The lefty, who last appeared in the majors for Colorado back in 2024, looked good, albeit in a low-leverage spot with the Cubs already down six runs when he entered the contest. Blach replaced Javier Assad on the roster for now, though the latter could be back in short order after a stint in Iowa.

Busch went 2-for-2 with a walk, two doubles and an RBI in Monday's 9-3 loss to the Brewers.

Busch continued his strong recent play with two more hits in the blowout loss. The first baseman has a hit in 14 of 17 games this month, and he's batting .339 overall in May to go along with two home runs and 16 RBI. Busch had a breakout 2025 campaign, and after a slow start in 2026, it looks like he's getting back on track as a key part of Chicago's offensive attack.

Baez (elbow) was activated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Baez missed the start of the 2026 campaign due to an elbow injury. He's appeared in two games since being activated, allowing seven runs on six hits and four walks while striking out eight across 4.2 innings.

Melton (elbow) is slated to make the fourth start of his rehab assignment Tuesday with Single-A Lakeland, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

After tossing two innings and 54 pitches in his most recent rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Toledo, Melton will shift his assignment back to the Florida State League, where he made his first two appearances. Weather was a factor in the decision to move Melton's rehab from Toledo to Lakeland, but the change shouldn't alter the right-hander's timeline to return from the 60-day injured list. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said that Melton is being targeted for four innings and 65-to-75 pitches during Monday's outing, so the 25-year-old may require one more rehab start after that before being activated and potentially slotting into the Detroit rotation.

Swanson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 9-3 loss to the Brewers.

Swanson clubbed his seventh home run of the season in the fifth inning, which extended his modest hitting streak to three games. Before this recent stretch, the veteran shortstop was batting just .133 in May, and he's still under the .200 mark for the year to go along with a subpar .669 OPS. Swanson will likely be allowed to play his way out of his early-season slump, but fantasy managers may want to consider some other options in shallow formats if his struggles persist for too long.

Carpenter (shoulder) has been doing light running and throwing since landing on the 10-day injured list and expects to resume swinging a bat this week, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Carpenter previously missed six weeks during the 2023 season after spraining the AC joint of his right shoulder, but he appears to be trending toward a much quicker return after suffering the same injury to his left shoulder May 9, when he slammed into the outfield wall in a game against the Royals. Once he completes a full hitting progression, Carpenter said that he expects to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment before coming off the IL.

Vierling went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 8-2 loss to the Guardians.

Vierling is now up to four home runs this season, with two of those long balls coming in the last three days. The veteran is seeing an uptick in playing time in center field with Parker Meadows (arm) and Javier Baez (ankle) both on the injured list. Vierling has yet to truly get going with a .211 batting average and .676 OPS, though his recent stretch offers some glimmer of optimism, and he should continue to be a lineup regular with his two teammates on the shelf.
