Jeffers needs surgery to remove a fractured left hamate bone and is expected to be sidelined 6-to-8 weeks, Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com reports.

The Twins announced Jeffers' placement on the injured list earlier Tuesday, and surgery is typical for this type of injury. The timeline puts Jeffers on the shelf until around July 1 in a best-case scenario, and it's possible he won't make it back until after the All-Star break. In the meantime, Victor Caratini will receive the lion's share of the reps at catcher for Minnesota.

Buxton (hip) is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros, Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com reports.

The 32-year-old center fielder hasn't seen the field in nearly a week due to right hip flexor soreness, but he'll return to the starting nine Tuesday versus Houston righty Lance McCullers. Buxton will attempt to pick up where he left off, as he was in the midst of a hot streak prior to the absence with 12 homers and a 1.075 OPS over his previous 20 games.

Young (rib) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Mets.

Young had to be lifted from Monday's game after being hit by a pitch in the ribs. X-rays came back negative and he's considered day-to-day. Dylan Crews is drawing a start in center field Tuesday.

The Nationals recalled Chaparro from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

Chaparro made Washington's Opening Day roster but played in only three games before being demoted to Rochester, where he's remained except for a one-day stint with the Nationals in late April. He's gone 2-for-9 with a walk and a double in the big leagues and has an .801 OPS with six homers in 35 games at the Triple-A level this season.

The Nationals recalled Crews from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old's promotion was reported Monday, and he's now officially been added to the major-league roster. Crews struggled to a .632 OPS in 85 games last season and opened 2026 in the minors, but he's been hitting well at Rochester this year with five homers, seven steals and a .258/.345/.432 slash line in 177 plate appearances. He is starting in center field and batting sixth in Tuesday's contest versus the Mets.

Collins is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

It looks to be a routine day off for Collins, who had started each of the previous eight contests. Starling Marte is playing left field and batting sixth for the Royals.

Wiemer (hand) was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

Wiemer suffered a hand bruise during Monday's contest against the Mets and was sent for X-rays, though his move to the minors rather than the injured list indicates it isn't a serious concern. The 27-year-old has been a surprisingly productive bat for Washington this year with a .300/.410/.529 slash line in 83 plate appearances, but he's primarily filled a part-time role and will now head to Triple-A in favor of Dylan Crews.

Schwarber (illness) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Schwarber is under the weather and will miss a second consecutive start. He's considered day-to-day, but with an afternoon game Wednesday and a team off day Thursday, the Phillies might elect to hold Schwarber out until Friday versus the Guardians just to be safe. Trea Turner is getting a start at designated hitter Tuesday, and Edmundo Sosa is covering shortstop.

Alonso went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 16-6 loss to the Rays.

Alonso registered his first three-hit performance of the year Monday, as well as his third multi-hit effort in his last five games. The All-Star first baseman is still slashing a career-low .225/.307/.423 with eight home runs, 12 doubles and 26 RBI across 205 plate appearances, but he's fared better at the dish recently. Over his last 20 outings, Alonso has gone 20-for-75 (.267) with five homers, six doubles and 16 RBI.

The Mets transferred Holmes (fibula) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.

The right-hander was recently shut down from all activities for 6-to-8 weeks due to a fractured right fibula, so it's hardly a surprise he's been moved to the 60-day IL. Holmes is expected to require about a month to build back up to game readiness once fully recovered, so he'll likely be sidelined until at least mid-August.
