  • Marlins' Thomas White: Working through shoulder issue

Marlins president of baseball operations Peter Bendix said Sunday that White is recovering from "a bit of a shoulder thing," Kyle Sielaff of Marlins.tv reports. Triple-A Jacksonville placed White on its 7-day injured list, but Bendix indicated that the injury isn't a long-term concern for the 21-year-old lefty, who is regarded as one of the organization's top pitching prospects. Assuming he's able to rebound quickly from the shoulder issue, White will have plenty of time to build momentum for a potential promotion to the big leagues later on this season. White had compiled a 4.34 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 25:9 K:BB in 18.2 innings through his first five starts with Jacksonville prior to landing on the IL.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Lands on 7-day IL

White (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports. White was scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday with the Jumbo Shrimp, and although it initially seemed like an indication that he was on his way to the big leagues, he'll instead spend at least a week on the IL due to an unspecified injury. The 21-year-old top prospect has a 4.34 ERA and 1.48 WHIP through five starts at Jacksonville this season, and although he isn't ready for his MLB debut just yet, there's still a chance he gets called up later in the year.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Scratched from Triple-A start

White was scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday at Triple-A Jacksonville for precautionary reasons, FishOnFirst.com reports. The Marlins decided to send Braxton Garrett to the minors following his poor start Tuesday, and although nothing is official just yet, scratching White from his start suggests that he may be called up to join the big-league rotation within the next few days. The 21-year-old southpaw is considered to be one of the top pitching prospects in the sport but has gotten off to a shaky start in Triple-A this year, posting a 4.34 ERA and 1.48 WHIP alongside a 25:9 K:BB through 18.2 innings across five starts. If he ends up getting the call, he would figure to have plenty of time to establish himself in the rotation.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Ready to join Triple-A club

White (oblique) will be activated from Triple-A Jacksonville's 7-day injured list to make his season debut with the affiliate Thursday, FishOnFirst.com reports. White was shelved after suffering a Grade 1 right oblique strain in spring training, but he's received the green light to rejoin the Triple-A club after completing a pair of rehab starts at Single-A Jupiter. The 21-year-old lefty built up to 3.2 innings and 63 pitches in his most recent outing with Jupiter on Thursday, allowing an unearned run on one hit and five walks while striking out six. If White can stay healthy and show improved control at Jacksonville, he should get the chance to make his MLB debut at some point later this summer.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Cut from big-league camp

The Marlins reassigned White (oblique) to minor-league camp Tuesday. White was a long shot to make the Opening Day roster, anyway, but a recent oblique strain sealed his fate. He is not expected to be game-ready until late March, so White could get a late start to the minor-league season. The top prospect collected a 2.31 ERA and 145:51 K:BB over 89.2 innings across three minor-league stops in 2025.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Joining Marlins in MLB camp

The Marlins have extended White an invitation to big-league camp during spring training. White is only 21 years old and has made just two starts at the Triple-A level, so he's likely to begin the 2026 season back in the minors as he continues working on his control. That said, the lefty is one of the most exciting young pitching prospects in baseball and has a good chance to debut at some point during the upcoming season. White collected a 2.31 ERA with a whopping 145 strikeouts (and 51 walks) over 89.2 innings across three minor-league stops in 2025.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Fans career-high 14 at Double-A

White gave up two hits over five scoreless innings for Double-A Pensacola on Saturday, striking out 14 without walking a batter. The 20-year-old southpaw set a new career high in Ks, and per Cole Weintraub of MLB.com, 13 of those strikeouts came in a 14-batter span -- something no major-league pitcher has done since 1961. White has a 2.25 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 33:10 K:BB through 20 innings over five starts since getting promoted for Pensacola, and the Marlins' top pitching prospect may not be long for Double-A if he keeps dominating like this.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Promoted to Double-A

The Marlins promoted White from High-A Beloit to Double-A Pensacola on Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. White missed some time at Beloit with a finger injury but has been excellent when healthy, posting a 2.83 ERA and 53:17 K:BB over 35 innings covering nine starts. He's been especially sharp since returning in late May following a brief stint on the 7-day injured list, turning in a 16:1 K:BB over 10 frames in three outings. White is one of the better left-handed pitching prospects in baseball and has now reached the Double-A level at 20 years of age.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Dealing with finger injury

White has missed his last two scheduled starts at High-A Beloit due to soreness in his left index finger but remains on a throwing program, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports. White, the Marlins' top pitching prospect, hasn't pitched in a game since May 9 due to lingering pain in his left index finger. Although he remains on a throwing program, there isn't a clear timetable for his return to game action. The 20-year-old lefty has posted a 3.24 ERA in 25.0 innings with Beloit this season.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Racking up Ks at High-A

White struck out eight and gave up two hits and two walks over five scoreless innings Friday for High-A Beloit. The 20-year-old southpaw is the Marlins' top pitching prospect, and he's having little trouble getting whiffs against Midwest League hitters. White has fanned at least seven batters in three straight starts, and while he's also issued multiple walks in all six of his outings so far in 2025, he has yet to serve up a homer. The 35th overall pick in the 2023 First-year Player Draft has a 3.24 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 37:16 K:BB through 25 innings, and a promotion to Double-A could be in the cards this summer if he can tighten up his control just a touch.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Finishes age-19 season strong

White threw exactly five innings in each of his final eight starts for High-A Beloit, logging a 2.25 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 42 strikeouts in 40 innings over that stretch. The lanky 6-foot-5 southpaw seemingly got better as the season went on, logging a 2.61 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 21.7 K-BB% in 13 starts at High-A after logging a 3.18 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 17.2 K-BB% in eight starts for Single-A Jupiter to begin the year. White has long limbs and has struggled to throw strikes at times, but he showed impressive consistency down the stretch. He may head to Double-A for the beginning of his age-20 season, and if he throws enough strikes, he could finish 2025 as one of the game's top pitching prospects.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Moving to High-A

The Marlins promoted White from Single-A Jupiter to High-A Beloit on Monday, FishonFirst.com reports. White owned a 3.18 ERA over 34 innings with Jupiter in 2024, despite posting a 1.59 WHIP and opponents batting .274 against him. However, the southpaw also has 44 strikeouts over that span, and he'll jump to the next level alongside fellow pitching prospect Noble Meyer.

  • Marlins' Thomas White: Shines in Spring Breakout game

White walked one and struck out three in a scoreless inning of work during Saturday's Spring Breakout game against the Cardinals. The 19-year-old southpaw got the start in the prospect showcase game over Noble Meyer and rewarded the Marlins' confidence in him by striking out the side, fanning both Thomas Saggese and the Cards' potential Opening Day center fielder, Victor Scott. White saw very little action in his pro debut last year after being selected 35th overall in the 2023 Draft, throwing just 3.2 innings for Single-A Jupiter, but his arsenal -- mid-90s fastball, changeup and slurvy breaking ball from a three-quarter arm slot -- could allow him to shoot up prospect lists quickly if his control and command hold up.
