The Cardinals recalled Mautz from Triple-A Memphis ahead of his start against the Reds on Sunday.

St. Louis needed another starter after Saturday's doubleheader against Cincinnati and will turn to Mautz to make his major-league debut in Sunday's series finale. The 24-year-old southpaw was named the Cardinals' Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2025 after a strong season with Double-A Springfield and has pitched well in Triple-A this season, sporting a 2.90 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 43:24 K:BB across 40.1 innings. Matt Svanson was optioned to Memphis in a corresponding move.

The Cardinals optioned Svanson to Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.

Svanson will be moved off the 26-man active roster as the Cardinals make room for their starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Reds, Brycen Mautz, who was called up from Triple-A. Though he looked like a candidate to earn a high-leverage role in the St. Louis bullpen coming out of spring training, Svanson squandered that opportunity after posting a 8.77 ERA, 1.95 WHIP and 26:15 K:BB across 25.2 innings to begin the season. He'll look to iron out his command issues in the minors.

Cowser is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Tigers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Though he'll be on the bench while the Tigers send lefty Framber Valdez to the hill for the matinee, Cowser has seemingly regained a foothold in the lineup. He's started the last three matchups with right-handed starters or primary pitchers, going 3-for-9 with a home run and a stolen bases in those contests. Until Dylan Beavers (oblique) returns from the injured list, Cowser and Tyler O'Neill could end up forming a loose platoon in right field.

Muncy (wrist) is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Brewers on Sunday.

Muncy will end up sitting for the last two games of the weekend series against Milwaukee after he was hit on the wrist by a pitch in Friday's contest. Miguel Rojas will draw the start at the hot corner and bat ninth in Sunday's series finale.

Basallo is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Tigers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

With southpaw Framber Valdez taking the hill for the Tigers in the first game of the twin bill, Basallo will be given a breather while Baltimore goes with Adley Rutschman behind the plate and Taylor Ward at designated hitter. Basallo will most likely handle catching duties for the Orioles in the nightcap.

Holliday is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The Orioles have now held the left-handed-hitting Holliday out of the lineup for all three of their matchups with left-handed starting pitchers since he returned from the injured list Monday. Holliday should eventually see more chances against southpaws once he's further removed from the hand injury that has kept him on the shelf for most of the season, but Jeremiah Jackson will get the nod at second base in the first game of the day while the Orioles face off against Framber Valdez.

Smith is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup against the Brewers on Sunday.

Smith will be on the bench for the second time in three games while Dalton Rushing starts behind home plate and bats seventh. Since May 1, Smith has gone 12-for-57 (.211) with one home run and five RBI.

The Rays recalled Mesa from Triple-A Durham on Sunday.

Mesa will join the Rays as a replacement on the active roster for Jonny DeLuca (hamstring), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. In DeLuca's absence, Mesa should see a fair amount of starts in the outfield, especially against right-handed pitching. He'll be on the bench for Sunday's game against the Yankees, however, with southpaw Ryan Weathers on the hill for New York.

The Tigers recalled Vanasco from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Detroit had optioned Vanasco to Triple-A on May 15, but he'll make a quick return after left-hander Brant Hurter (spine) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. Vanasco yielded eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits and four walks over 4.1 innings across his first four appearances of the season and will likely be used in a lower-leverage role.

The Rays placed DeLuca on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a right hamstring strain.

DeLuca strained his right hamstring while running the bases during Friday's 4-2 win over the Yankees. The 27-year-old outfielder will be eligible to return from the shelf June 3, but it's unclear if he'll have a shot at rejoining the Rays at that time. Victor Mesa was recalled from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move and could work in a platoon in right field with Ryan Vilade while DeLuca is on the IL.
