McGreevy took a no-decision against the Reds on Thursday, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

The Reds erupted for five runs in the sixth inning, three of which went against McGreevy's ledger. The right-hander has struggled mightily lately, turning in a 5.83 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 24:12 K:BB over his last six starts (29.1 innings) to follow up a streak of four consecutive quality starts prior to that period. McGreevy will take a 3.54 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 95:36 K:BB across 137.1 innings this season into his next scheduled outing against the Orioles.

Singer took a no-decision against the Cardinals on Thursday, allowing four runs on five hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out three.

Most of the damage against Singer came in the third inning, when Jordan Walker blasted a three-run home run. The 30-year-old right-hander hasn't been dominant lately, giving up at least three runs in six consecutive starts, but he's tossed at least six innings in seven of his last eight outings to supply steady length for the Reds. Singer is set to bring a 4.72 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 107:43 K:BB over 131.2 innings into a soft road matchup with the lowly Giants.

Narvaez will start at catcher and bat ninth in Thursday's game versus the Yankees.

Samuel Basallo returned from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, but he's made one start at first base and one at designated hitter, allowing Narvaez to make a fourth consecutive start Thursday. Since Basallo is coming back from a right shoulder injury, the Orioles could be easing him back into catching duties. Narvaez is just 3-for-35 at the plate since joining Baltimore and has a .489 OPS on the season, so he's not a recommended fantasy play even if he does continue seeing regular reps.

Outman (concussion) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Outman has been on the 7-day concussion IL since last Thursday, and he appears to be nearing the final stages of his recovery now that he's been cleared to play in rehab games. It's unclear how many reps the Tigers will have him take at Toledo before adding him back onto the active roster, but a return during Detroit's upcoming weekend series in Kansas City isn't out of the question. Top prospect Max Clark is now operating as the club's primary center fielder, but Outman could still have a path to playing time once fully cleared if Riley Greene (hamstring), Kerry Carpenter (foot) and Matt Vierling (thigh) remain sidelined.

Garcia was removed from Thursday's game against the Athletics after the first inning with a left hamstring injury, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Garcia doubled in his first plate appearance in the bottom of the first inning, but he later pulled up after rounding third base, grabbed at his hamstring and was tagged out on a fielder's choice. The 26-year-old just returned earlier this week from a nearly two-month absence with a hand injury, and it looks like he could be headed back to the injured list.

The Athletics transferred Soderstrom (hip) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Soderstrom is scheduled to undergo hip surgery Friday that will cause him to miss the rest of the season, so the A's will move him to the 60-day IL to free up a 40-man roster spot for Johnathan Rodriguez, who was claimed off waivers from Pittsburgh.

The Athletics claimed Rodriguez off waivers from the Pirates on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas.

The A's were running a bit thin on outfield depth on the 40-man roster after losing Tyler Soderstrom (hip) for the season, so they'll pick up Rodriguez to help solve that problem. Rodriguez has gone just 2-for-11 in the majors this season but owns a .286/.380/.410 slash line through 321 plate appearances at Triple-A.

Gimenez was removed from Thursday's game versus the Rays in the fourth inning with a right hamstring injury, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Gimenez was attempting to beat out an infield single in the top of the fourth inning when he tweaked his hamstring while running through the first-base bag. He walked off the field gingerly and did not take his position for the bottom of the frame. The Blue Jays should have more on Gimenez's status after the game, but it looked like an issue that could force a stint on the injured list. If that happens, Ernie Clement would likely take over at shortstop, with Josh Smith and/or Charles McAdoo handling second base. Gimenez went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases Thursday before exiting.

Phillips struck out three and allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks across two innings of relief in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Phillies.

After a stretch of 12 consecutive appearances as a starter, Phillips shifted to a relief role for the series in Philadelphia while the Marlins opted for a bullpen day when his turn in the rotation came up. Rather than leaning more heavily on Phillips as a bulk reliever behind opener Cade Gibson, manager Clayton McCullough opted to use five different bullpen arms to record the final 20 outs. Phillips' spot in the rotation will come up again Monday versus the Red Sox, but it's not clear whether he'll reclaim a traditional starting role for that game or continue to work out of the bullpen.

Freeman (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.

Freeman has been out since mid-August with a back injury that's bothered intermittently this season. Because his absence has been brief, Freeman's rehab assignment should be a short one. He's slashed .247/.317/.314 with three home runs and six stolen bases in 79 contests for the Rockies this season.
