Anthony Santander RF | TOR
Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Lands on injured list
The Blue Jays placed Santander (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Santander underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder in February. He has a chance to return at some point after the All-Star break, but it's possible the Blue Jays wind up holding him back until next season.

Shane Bieber SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Shane Bieber: Placement on IL made official
The Blue Jays placed Bieber (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Bieber has dealt with what had been referred to as forearm fatigue dating back to last season, but the Blue Jays have listed right elbow inflammation as his injury designation. The veteran hurler has been throwing on flat ground, but it's unclear when he'll be ready for mound work and a rehab assignment. A clearer picture of Bieber's status should be available in the coming weeks.

Yimi Garcia RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Heads to IL
The Blue Jays placed Garcia (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Garcia resumed throwing off a mound shortly before the end of spring training, but he'll need more time to continue building back up before the Blue Jays send him out on a minor-league rehab assignment, perhaps at some point in April. The 35-year-old reliever saw his 2025 campaign come to an early end after he required surgery in September to clean up scar tissue near the ulnar nerve and AC joint of his right elbow.

Jose Berrios SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Jose Berrios: Placed on 15-day injured list
The Blue Jays placed Berrios (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Berrios was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his pitching elbow last week. The right-hander hopes to resume throwing soon, but the possibility exists that he'll need ample down time. Eric Lauer will slide into the Toronto rotation in Berrios' place.

Orion Kerkering RP | PHI
Phillies' Orion Kerkering: Lands on IL
The Phillies placed Kerkering (hamstring) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Kerkering's move to the IL was a foregone conclusion after the righty reliever didn't make his Grapefruit League debut until last Friday while he recovered from a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. He was able to make another appearance Monday on the back fields of camp, but the Phillies presumably want to see the 24-year-old stack up a few more innings before clearing him to join the big-league bullpen. He'll likely be ready to start a rehab assignment when the minor-league season gets underway Friday, and he could be ready to return from the IL when first eligible April 7.

A.J. Minter RP | NYM
Mets' A.J. Minter: Heads to IL
The Mets placed Minter (lat) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Still on the mend from the left lat surgery he underwent May 12, 2025, Minter is expected to spend the next couple of weeks continuing his rehab program at the Mets' spring training facility in Florida, per MLB.com. The southpaw reliever has been facing hitters for the past few weeks, so he could get the green light to start a rehab assignment at Single-A St. Lucie shortly after the Florida State League season gets underway. Minter is expected to eventually move up to a higher-level affiliate as the final step before he makes his return from the IL.

Ben Rortvedt C | NYM
Mets' Ben Rortvedt: DFA'd by Mets
The Mets designated Rortvedt for assignment Wednesday.
Rortvedt was never going to make the Mets' roster as long as Francisco Alvarez and Luis Torrens were healthy, and the team's top two catchers are ready to go for Thursday's opener. The 28-year-old Rortvedt has been claimed off waivers three times already this offseason and could make it four.

Leonardo Rivas 3B | SEA
Mariners' Leo Rivas: Will be Opening Day shortstop
Rivas is slated to start at shortstop for the Mariners on Opening Day after J.P. Crawford (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.
The Mariners might have considered top prospect Colt Emerson to play shortstop if Crawford's absence was going to be an extended one, but he's expected back in a couple weeks. As such, the club will turn to the defensively gifted Rivas at shortstop. Rivas has a good eye at the plate, but he's unlikely to be worthy of a roster spot in fantasy leagues even while playing regularly.

Miles Mastrobuoni 3B | SEA
Mariners' Miles Mastrobuoni: Sidelined with calf strain
The Mariners placed Mastrobuoni (calf) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Mastrobuoni strained his right calf while playing for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic two weeks ago. He'll be eligible to return April 1, but the utility player figures to require a bit more down time than that.

J.P. Crawford SS | SEA
Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Goes on IL with shoulder injury
The Mariners placed Crawford (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Crawford has battled nagging right shoulder inflammation since the start of spring training and was given a cortisone injection last week. He is eligible for activation April 1 and has expressed optimism that he could return within the next couple weeks, per Adam Jude of the Seattle Times. Leo Rivas will fill in at shortstop for the Mariners while Crawford is shelved.
