In eight appearances since returning from the 7-day injured list in mid-July, Wiggins has posted a 10.06 ERA for Triple-A Iowa.

Wiggins has yet to really find his groove at any point during the season for the Iowa Cubs, as he's now sporting an 8.64 ERA and 2.00 WHIP overall across 25 innings. The top prospect is showing some promise with 33 strikeouts, though his 26 walks are reason for concern, and he'll have to exhibit better control before Chicago considers brining him up to the majors for the first time. At this point, Wiggins will simply look to stay fully healthy down the stretch and try to post some better results, with an eye toward potentially making his MLB debut in 2027.

The Diamondbacks signed Espinal to a minor-league contract Thursday.

Espinal has been assigned to Triple-A Reno. The veteran infielder was released by the Rangers last month after he failed to earn a promotion to the big leagues following nearly four weeks with Texas' Triple-A affiliate. Espinal is joining his third organization of the 2026 season. He previously appeared in 36 games for the Dodgers, slashing .268/.276/.375 with four extra-base hits, seven RBI, five runs scored and a 1:8 BB:K across 60 trips to the plate.

The Mariners are expected to select Anderson's contract from Double-A Arkansas to start Saturday's game against the Cubs, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Widely viewed as one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball, Anderson has been incredible at Double-A this season, pitching to a ludicrous 1.06 ERA and 0.64 WHIP to go with a 135:13 K:BB across 93.1 innings. The 22-year-old's dominance will allow him to skip Triple-A entirely and head straight to the big leagues, further bolstering a Mariners rotation that's put up a 3.89 ERA this year. His first test in the big leagues will come against a Cubs offense that's logged a .772 OPS since the beginning of the month, but the young lefty is still worth rostering in virtually all fantasy formats.

The Astros recalled Delgado from Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday.

Delgado's last MLB stint was July 19 when he started at second base prior to getting optioned the next day. Since then, the 26-year-old has slashed .304/.383/.451 with a home run and four stolen bases across 116 plate appearances in 26 games. In a corresponding move Thursday, the Astros designated Nelson Velazquez for assignment.

Velazquez will end up as the necessary roster casualty needed to make room for Raynel Delgado, who was recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday. Velazquez went 0-for-4 with a sacrifice fly during his 10-day stint with the Astros but owns a .764 OPS across 163 plate appearances in the minors this season.

Manager Matt Quatraro said that Garcia is likely to be placed on the injured list after suffering a left hamstring strain during Thursday's game against the Athletics, Joel Goldberg of Royals.tv reports.

Garcia suffered the injury while rounding third base in the first inning and came out of the game immediately afterward. The 26-year-old had been playing in just his fourth game since returning from a nearly two-month stay on the IL caused by a hand injury and is now set to go back on the shelf for at least the remainder of August. Nick Loftin will likely resume serving as Kansas City's primary third baseman.

Garcia was placed on the 7-day injured list Thursday with an undisclosed injury, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The Pirates demoted Garcia to Triple-A Indianapolis on Aug. 14 after he had been up with the big club since July 29. The 23-year-old got three hits with an RBI and no walks across 11 plate appearances in the three games he appeared in after being optioned.

Hassell was placed on the 7-day injured list Thursday with an undisclosed injury, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Hassell was promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis from Double-A Altoona on Aug. 18, but he did not make an appearance prior to the injury designation. He had been with Double-A Altoona since Aug. 8, and he picked up four hits with two RBI and six walks across 24 plate appearances in a five-game stretch.

Iglesias earned the save in Thursday's 2-0 win over the White Sox, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Iglesias was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning and did so on 12 pitches. The 36-year-old has posted a 7.04 ERA through eight appearances in what has been a shaky August, but he's still converted three of four save chances. On the year, he's 26-for-29 in save opportunities to go along with a 3.09 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 51:14 K:BB across 46.2 innings.

Pena (hand) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Pena made an early exit from Wednesday's contest after taking a pitch off his hand, and he'll need at least one day off to recover before returning to the starting nine. Nick Allen will start at shortstop as a result and bat eighth.
