Painter will be used in a bulk-relief role Friday in Milwaukee, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Painter had one other bulk-relief appearance this season and fared well, striking out seven while holding the Diamondbacks to one run over five innings. He will be preceded by opener Tanner Banks.

Banks will serve as the Phillies' opening pitcher in Friday's game versus the Brewers, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Banks holds a 6.08 ERA on the season, but a 2.75 FIP and 27 strikeouts over 23.2 innings point to some bad luck. He'll handle the first inning or two for the Phillies before turning things over to bulk reliever Andrew Painter.

The Diamondbacks reinstated Lawlar (wrist) from the 60-day injured list, and he is starting in center field and batting seventh Friday against the Reds.

The 23-year-old landed on the injured list in early April due to a fractured wrist, but he's back with Arizona after posting a .736 OPS over an eight-game rehab assignment. Lawlar had a hot start to the year prior to the injury, going 6-for-20 with a homer, a double and a stolen base, and will look to pick up where he left off two months later.

The Phillies placed Berroa on the paternity leave list Friday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Berroa will likely be away for the full weekend series in Milwaukee as he welcomes a new baby. He should rejoin the Phillies for the start of a homestand early next week.

The Phillies recalled Rincones from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Rincones got a late start to the season due to a knee injury, but he's healthy now and has received his first big-league promotion after hitting .239/.345/.283 in 12 games with Lehigh Valley. The 25-year-old slashed .240/.370/.430 with 18 home runs, 21 stolen bases and an 80:114 BB:K at Lehigh Valley last season, and the left-handed-hitting Rincones could see ample playing time in right field in place of the injured Adolis Garcia (lat).

The Phillies placed Garcia on the 60-day injured list Friday with a torn right lat, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Garcia was injured during Wednesday's game versus the Blue Jays when he tried to throw a runner out at home plate. It's unclear whether he will have surgery, but he will miss at least two months of action regardless after going straight to the 60-day IL. Gabriel Rincones is taking Garcia's spot on the roster and will be among those in the mix for playing time in right field.

Crochet clarified Friday that his lat strain is asymptomatic, but his shoulder is taking longer than expected to recover, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports. The left-hander also said he doesn't expect to come off the injured list until after the All-Star break.

Crochet said earlier in the week that the lat low-grade lat strain he sustained in early June was "a lot worse" that initially believed, but he clarified Friday that he was actually referring to the shoulder inflammation that sent him to the IL in late April. The 26-year-old continues to work his way back from the latter injury and could start up a throwing program soon, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, but he'll need significant time to build up his arm before rejoining Boston's rotation.

Reds manager Terry Francona said Friday that an MRI showed De La Cruz's right hamstring strain to be 90 percent healed, Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati reports.

The Reds will make a decision Sunday on the next steps for De La Cruz, who could need a brief rehab assignment before returning to the active roster. De La Cruz has been sidelined for all of June with his hamstring injury, but fantasy managers could get him back at some point next week.

The Blue Jays recalled Schneider from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.

The 27-year-old was optioned to Buffalo in late April but will return to the big club Friday since Daulton Varsho (wrist) is headed to the injured list. Schneider has struggled to a .127/.295/.211 slash line and 34.8 percent strikeout rate in 89 major-league plate appearances this year. He was more productive during his stint at Triple-A with a .769 OPS, though that came as the result of a .188 average and a ridiculous 24:8 BB:K in 14 games.

The Blue Jays designated Heineman for assignment Friday.

Alejandro Kirk (thumb) is back from the injured list, and the Blue Jays have elected to keep Brandon Valenzuela around as his backup rather than Heineman. Heineman is hitting only .154/.205/.205 this season and could clear waivers, though if that happens he would have the ability to elect free agency.
