Blue Jays' Cody Ponce: Headed for MRI

Ponce (knee) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Ponce told manager John Schneider that he felt his knee hyperextend while attempting to field a dribbler during the third inning of Monday's start against the Rockies. The team won't know the extent of the injury until his imaging is reviewed.

  • Twins' Simeon Woods Richardson: Suffers tough-luck loss

Woods Richardson (0-1) took the loss Monday against the Royals after allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two across five innings.

Woods Richardson surrendered both of his runs on one swing of the bat, as he gave up a two-run homer to Kyle Isbel in the bottom of the second inning. Woods Richardson otherwise managed to work his way through Kansas City's lineup without damage, despite firing only 45 of his 83 pitches for strikes. Fantasy managers will likely be disappointed by the lack of swing-and-miss stuff Monday after the right-hander posted a 16:5 K:BB across 20 innings during spring training.

  • Colin Rea SP | CHC

Cubs' Colin Rea: Picks up save Monday

Rea allowed two runs on four hits across three innings of relief and earned the save in Monday's 7-2 win over the Angels. He struck out four.

New Chicago starter Edward Cabrera tossed six scoreless innings in his team debut, and with the Cubs up 6-0 at that point, they let Rea close things out to save other arms in the bullpen. The veteran righty allowed a two-run home run to Yoan Moncada in the seventh inning, but then tossed blanks in the eighth and ninth. Rea has never had more than one save in a season during his MLB career, and he's unlikely to have too many more in 2026 from his long-relief role.

  • Ian Happ LF | CHC

Cubs' Ian Happ: Continues power surge Monday

Happ went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 7-2 win over the Angels.

After a relatively quiet performance on Opening Day, Happ has now gone deep in Chicago's last three games. He's thriving in the No. 3 spot in the order between Alex Bregman and Pete Crow-Armstrong. Happ's career high in home runs for a season is 25, which he's done twice, and while it's too early to say he'll surpass that figure, he is at least off to a promising start for fantasy managers.

  • White Sox's Wikelman Gonzalez: Off to strong start

Gonzalez (back) has struck out two across two scoreless innings in two appearances at Triple-A Charlotte to begin the 2026 season.

Gonzalez dealt with a back injury during spring training, but he's managed to return to health for the start of the 2026 campaign. He's yet to allow a baserunner through two appearances and should be in the running for a promotion at some point this year if he continues to deal in the minors.

  • Jose Suarez RP | ATH

Braves' Jose Suarez: Tapped to start Tuesday

Suarez will start Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Suarez will see his first action of the 2026 season Tuesday, and depending on how the outing goes, he could remain in the rotation as Atlanta's fifth starter until Spencer Strider (oblique) returns from the injured list. Suarez made one start a season ago with Atlanta and allowed two runs over seven innings and struck out nine in a victory over the Nationals.

  • PJ Poulin RP | WAS

Nationals' PJ Poulin: Working as opener Tuesday

Poulin will serve as the Nationals' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.

Poulin has appeared in two games so far this season, walking two and striking out one over 1.2 scoreless frames. He'll likely work the first inning before giving way to a primary pitcher, who the Nationals have yet to name. Zack Littell could be in the mix to eat up innings considering he's the only starter who's yet to see action in 2026.

  • Hunter Dobbins SP | STL

Cardinals' Hunter Dobbins: Ready for rehab assignment

Dobbins (knee) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday at Triple-A Memphis, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Dobbins managed to build up during spring training, though the team has limited him in fielding drills as he continues to rehab from ACL surgery. A timetable for his return from the injured list is unclear at this time, and even once he's fully healthy, it's unknown if he'll have a spot in the rotation waiting for him.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: To begin rehab stint Tuesday

Massey (calf) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Massey is on the mend from a low-grade left calf strain and is set to see live competition beginning Tuesday. He figures to appear in at least a few minor-league matchups, and while he's first eligible to be activated Wednesday, a return over the weekend seems more likely.

  • Cody Ponce RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Cody Ponce: Diagnosed with knee discomfort

Ponce was removed from Monday's start against Colorado due to right knee discomfort, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Ponce is likely headed for further testing to determine the full extent of his injury suffering during the third inning of Monday's appearance, but the initial diagnosis from the team is knee discomfort. The Blue Jays should have more information to share on the severity of Ponce's injury shortly.
