  • Jared Triolo 3B | PIT

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Grabbing seat Tuesday

Triolo is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Cincinnati.

Triolo batted leadoff the other time the Pirates faced a lefty, but he will begin this one on the bench. Nick Gonzales is at shortstop and Nick Yorke is handling third base for Pittsburgh against southpaw Brandon Williamson.

  • Brewers' Jeferson Quero: Optioned back to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Quero to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

He's being sent out to make room on the active roster for Luis Matos, who was acquired via trade. Quero logged two plate appearances during his first brief stint in the majors, drawing a walk and grounding out.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Kirk is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Kirk has gone 1-for-12 with two walks and a solo homer through three games and will sit Tuesday for the second time in Toronto's past three contests. Tyler Heineman will take over behind the plate to do the catching for veteran righty Max Scherzer.

  • Addison Barger 3B | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Hitting bench Tuesday

Barger is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

The 26-year-old will head to the bench Tuesday for the second time in Toronto's first five games, with this absence coming against Colorado righty Ryan Feltner. It'll be a chance to reset for Barger, who has gone 0-for-12 with two walks, two RBI and five strikeouts. Nathan Lukes is instead starting in right field for Toronto.

  • Ivan Herrera DH | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Second start at catcher

Herrera will start at catcher and bat second in Tuesday's contest against the Mets.

It's the second start at catcher this season for Herrera, leaving him eight games shy of gaining eligibility at the position if your league uses a 10-game in-season threshold. Herrera is off to a slow start offensively this season, going 2-for-17 with a double and two RBI.

  • Matt Pushard RP | STL

Cardinals' Matt Pushard: Goes on IL with knee tendinitis

The Cardinals placed Pushard on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right knee patellar tendinitis.

Pushard got knocked around in his major-league debut over the weekend, allowing three runs in an inning of work against the Rays, and now the reliever will miss at least the next two weeks of action. The Rule 5 pick was replaced on the roster and in the bullpen by Gordon Graceffo.

  • Cardinals' Gordon Graceffo: Called up Tuesday

The Cardinals recalled Graceffo from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

The right-hander was unable to earn a spot in St. Louis' bullpen to begin the season but will quickly join the big club with Matt Pushard (knee) landing on the injured list. Graceffo covered 1.1 scoreless frames in his lone outing for Memphis but struggled across 26 appearances with the Cardinals last year, finishing with a 6.28 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 40:13 K:BB over 43 innings.

  • Noelvi Marte RF | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Getting start versus righty

Marte will start in right field and bat seventh in Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

The Pirates are sending right-hander Bubba Chandler to the hill, and Tuesday marks the first time that Marte has been in the lineup against a righty in three matchups this season. Will Benson -- who has been vying for playing time with Marte -- is also in the lineup, as he will slide over to left field while Spencer Steer gets a breather.

  • Jacob Young CF | WAS

Nationals' Jacob Young: Sitting again Tuesday

Young is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.

It's the second straight game on the bench for Young, who started the first three games of the season and went 2-for-11 with a double and a homer. Joey Wiemer, who has opened the campaign on fire at the plate, will instead start in center field while Daylen Lile and James Wood man left and right field, respectively.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

Brewers' Andrew Vaughn: Undergoes hamate bone surgery

Vaughn underwent successful left hamate bone surgery Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Vaughn suffered the injury Opening Day and landed on the 10-day injured list Saturday after tests revealed a fracture. The Brewers hope he will be ready to return around mid-May. Jake Bauers and Gary Sanchez will handle first base for the Brewers while Vaughn is sidelined.
