Nola (1-0) picked up the win Friday against the Rockies, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out nine in 6.1 innings of work.

It certainly helped that the Phillies put up seven runs before he even took the mound, but that doesn't take away from how sharp Nola was. The 32-year-old kept the ball in the yard Friday at altitude after being burned with homers twice in his season-opening start against the Rangers and added nine strikeouts to bring his total up to 16 on the young season. Nola is next lined up to face the Giants on Wednesday.

Arias went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's 4-1 win against the Cubs.

Arias broke a seventh-inning tie with his second home run of the season, which turned out to be the game-winning swing for the Guardians. It was part of a day in which the 26-year-old reached base multiple times for the first time all year. That marks two strong games in a row in April for Arias, who had a tough March. He is slashing just .143/.217/.429 on the young season.

DeLauter went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and three RBI in Friday's 4-1 win over the Cubs.

DeLauter fouled a ball off of his foot Tuesday against the Dodgers and had been out of the lineup since, but he returned in a big way Friday. The 24-year-old drove in three of the four runs scored by the Guardians, with his biggest swing being a two-run home run to extend the Guardians' lead from one to three. It was DeLauter's fifth home run on the young season, tied for the most in MLB alongside Shea Langeliers.

Smith earned the save Friday against the Cubs, allowing no runs and one hit while striking out the side.

A single surrendered to Carson Kelly was the only blip in an otherwise dominant appearance for Smith. He struck out the other three batters he faced en route to his second save of the season in his third try. The 26-year-old had allowed a run in three straight appearances, but Smith showed Friday what he can bring to the closer role when he's on his game. He now sports a 7.20 ERA on the season but has just one walk and six strikeouts in five innings.

Cantillo didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Cubs, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six batters in 5.1 innings.

Cantillo's second start went better than his first. After making it only to the fourth inning in his season debut, he worked into the sixth inning Friday and limited a Cubs offense that averaged five runs per game entering play to just one. The 26-year-old has now pitched exactly nine innings on the season and sports a 3.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 11 strikeouts and five walks. His next start is scheduled to come against the Royals on Wednesday.

Cole (elbow) tossed one simulated inning of live batting practice Wednesday, per MLB.com.

Cole is nearing the final stage of his recovery from Tommy John surgery and seems to be progressing smoothly. He got into a couple Grapefruit League games, completing 2.2 innings, and is expected to kick off a minor-league rehab stint within the next few weeks. If all goes well, Cole could rejoin the Yankees' rotation before the end of May.

Buxton was removed from Friday's game against the Rays after getting hit on the forearm by a pitch, Audra Martin of FanDuel Sports Network North reports.

Buxton immediately headed into the Twins' clubhouse after taking a 91.6-mph fastball off his right forearm in the seventh inning. X-rays came back negative afterward, so he appears to have suffered only a bruise as a result of the incident. James Outman entered the game to run for Buxton and would be the favorite to start in center field if the latter ends up missing a start or two.

Manager Craig Counsell confirmed after Friday's loss to the Guardians that Horton (forearm) will need to spend time on the injured list, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Horton was pulled from his start Friday after tweaking his forearm in the second inning. He's set to travel back to Chicago and undergo imaging in the next few days, at which point the details of his injury will be revealed, but the Cubs have already decided to hold him out for at least a couple of weeks. Ben Brown and Colin Rea are candidates to move from the bullpen and take Horton's place in the rotation, though no replacement has been named yet.

Butto was diagnosed with a blood clot in his right arm and will undergo a procedure Friday to remove it, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Butto exited his appearance Wednesday alongside a trainer before landing on the injured list Thursday with right forearm fatigue. The Giants haven't announced a timeline for the 28-year-old's return, but he's now likely to spend far more time on the injured list than the 15-day minimum.

Taylor will serve as the White Sox's opening pitcher again Saturday against the Blue Jays, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Taylor started Friday's contest with a scoreless frame before handing things over to Sean Burke in a game Chicago won in 10 innings. The team will go right back to the well Saturday with Taylor opening ahead of Anthony Kay. Taylor now sits with a 3.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 5:2 K:BB across three innings this season.
