Orion Kerkering RP | PHI
Phillies' Orion Kerkering: Beginning to struggle
Kerkering allowed one run on three hits in one inning Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
Kerkering has now yielded one run in three consecutive outings, and he's watched his ERA for the year climb from 2.81 on Aug. 19 to 3.28 following Sunday's showing. With Jose Alvarado (forearm) now out of the picture, Kerkering still remains very likely to make Philadelphia's playoff roster despite his recent struggles. Through 57.2 innings in 2025, Kerkering has a 3.28 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 61:26 K:BB.

Jordan Romano RP | LAA
Phillies' Jordan Romano: Remains shut down from throwing
Romano (finger/neck) hasn't resumed throwing, per MLB.com.
Romano was working his way back from right middle finger inflammation before reporting neck stiffness and numbness in his finger last weekend, and his throwing program appears to have reached a standstill. The right-hander is very unlikely to rejoin Philadelphia's bullpen before the end of the regular season at this point, although the door is theoretically open for him to return during the postseason.

Mark Vientos 1B | NYM
Mets' Mark Vientos: Tossed from Sunday's loss
Vientos went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Nationals before being ejected from the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Vientos was run from the game after he expressed his displeasure with a third-strike call after he appeared to check his swing. The 25-year-old isn't expected to face any further punishment stemming from his ejection, but it adds to what's been a frustrating finish to the season. Vientos will head into Tuesday's series opener versus the Cubs having gone 2-for-20 with eight strikeouts over his last seven games.

Daysbel Hernandez RP | ATL
Braves' Daysbel Hernandez: Shifts to 60-day IL
Atlanta transferred Hernandez (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.
Hernandez had been on the shelf since Sept. 12 due to right shoulder inflammation, and his move to the 60-day IL officially spells an end to his season. Before getting hurt, Hernandez made 39 appearances out of the Atlanta bullpen and logged a 3.41 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 33:30 K:BB across 37 innings.

Chuckie Robinson C | LAD
Braves' Chuckie Robinson: Joins new organization
Atlanta claimed Robinson off waivers from the Dodgers on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Gwinnett's season came to an end Sunday, so unless Atlanta recalls him at some point during the final week of the campaign, Robinson will have to wait until 2026 to make his organizational debut. The 30-year-old catcher holds a career .131/.169/.192 slash line over 138 plate appearances in parts of three seasons in the majors across stops with the Reds, White Sox and Dodgers.

Brandon Woodruff SP | MIL
Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Out with moderate lat strain
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Sunday that Woodruff was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a moderate right lat strain, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Woodruff suffered the injury on the 13th pitch of his bullpen session Saturday. After meeting with doctors in St. Louis on Sunday, Woodruff is scheduled to receive a second evaluation from Dr. Keith Meister, who performed surgery on the right-hander's shoulder in October 2023. The Brewers will await feedback from Dr. Meister before providing a timeline for Woodruff's return, though Murphy acknowledged that he's uncertain whether the 32-year-old will be ready to pitch in the NLDS, when he would first be eligible to return from the IL. However, given the initial diagnosis of a moderate lat strain rather than a mild one, Woodruff would appear to be a long shot to be available for the start of the Brewers' playoff run.

Ivan Herrera DH | STL
Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Goes deep in win
Herrera went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 5-1 win over Milwaukee. He was also hit by a pitch.
On Saturday, Herrera told Jim Hayes of FanDuel Sports Network Midwest that he would undergo a minor procedure in the offseason to address an elbow issue that has hindered him in making throws behind the plate, which has been a factor in the Cardinals electing not to use him at catcher since he returned from a stint on the injured list July 13. He made four starts in left field from July 28 through Aug. 13 but has otherwise been used exclusively at designated hitter. He should continue to finish out the season as the Cardinals' primary DH, and Herrera was able to snap out of a minor power drought by connecting on his 17th long ball of the season in the third inning. He had failed to record an extra-base hit in any of his previous six starts entering Sunday.

Robert Gasser SP | MIL
Brewers' Robert Gasser: Yields two runs in season debut
Gasser (0-1) allowed two runs on one hit and two walks over three innings Sunday, striking out two and taking a loss against St. Louis.
Gasser threw a pair of scoreless frames before serving up a two-run shot to Ivan Herrera in the third inning. It was Gasser's first MLB appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2024. He posted an impressive 2.57 ERA over 28 MLB innings last season before the injury. This year, he produced a 2.37 ERA through 38 innings while rehabbing across multiple minor-league levels. It's unclear how the Brewers plan to use Gasser down the stretch or in the postseason.

Matthew Liberatore SP | STL
Cardinals' Matthew Liberatore: Fans six in win
Liberatore (8-12) allowed a run on five hits and a walk over five innings Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over the Brewers.
Liberatore worked through four scoreless frames before the Brewers scratched a run across in the fifth inning. He's 2-1 over his last four outings after going 0-5 with a 5.77 ERA over his previous nine starts. Liberatore forced nine whiffs on 85 total pitches Sunday; he has not generated double-digit swinging strikes in any outing since June 23. The 25-year-old southpaw owns a 4.21 ERA with a 122:40 K:BB through 151.2 innings. Liberatore's final start of 2025 is projected to be a road matchup with the Cubs next weekend.

Michael King SP | SD
Padres' Michael King: Walks four in win
King (5-3) allowed four hits and four walks over five-plus scoreless innings Sunday, striking out four and earning a win over the White Sox.
King worked out of multiple jams through five frames to keep the White Sox off the board. He loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth but was not charged with any runs after Adrian Morejon came in to clean up the mess. King still doesn't look like his usual self, but it was a much better performance than his last outing when he was tagged with eight runs against the Mets. The 30-year-old righty is now sporting a 3.57 ERA with a 73:24 K:BB through 70.2 innings this season. King's final regular-season start is projected to be at home next weekend against the Diamondbacks.
