  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

Braves' Orlando Arcia: Dealing with abscessed tooth

Arcia is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants due to an abscessed tooth, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Arcia dealt with a bout a dizziness last week and is now managing a tooth issue. The abscess is being addressed Tuesday, so the 29-year-old could rejoin the lineup within the next couple days.

  • Phillies' Whit Merrifield: Taking seat Tuesday

Merrifield is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Merrifield's playing time has been trending upward lately, starting four of the Phillies' previous six games. However, he'll yield to Brandon Marsh in left field for Tuesday's series opener in Chicago.

  • Braves' Ramon Laureano: Could go on IL with oblique issue

Laureano's back pain has moved toward his oblique and he may now require a trip to the 10-day injured list, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Laureano has already been shelved for nearly a week and it appears he may now miss quite a bit more time. The outfielder would be eligible to return before the All-Star break if an IL move is made soon, but being held out until the second half is probably likelier at this point. Adam Duvall has been handling right field with Laureano out.

  • Caleb Kilian RP | PHI

Cubs' Caleb Kilian: Beginning rehab assignment

Kilian (shoulder) is starting a rehab assignment Tuesday at High-A South Bend, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Kilian will start up a rehab assignment Tuesday, pitching in game conditions for the first time since straining his shoulder in spring training. The 27-year-old has been progressing well, getting up to 32 pitches in a bullpen session in mid-June before facing live hitters June 25. He could be cleared for activation before August.

  • Cubs' Julian Merryweather: Facing hitters Tuesday

Merryweather (ribs) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Merryweather has thrown a pair of bullpens and faced live batters for the first time since being placed on the IL on April 7. Manager Craig Counsell already ruled Merryweather out through the All-Star break, but the 32-year-old could be ready to go coming out of the layoff.

  • Giants' Mike Yastrzemski: Back from injured list

The Giants reinstated Yastrzemski (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

The 33-year-old landed on the shelf with an oblique strain June 22, and he's ready to rejoin the Giants after a brief stay on the injured list. Yastrzemski was enjoying a strong month prior to the injury, as he had an .842 OPS over 18 games in June.

  • Brandon Nimmo RF | TEX

Mets' Brandon Nimmo: Still out of lineup

Nimmo (forehead) is absent from the starting lineup Tuesday against Washington.

Nimmo sustained a cut on his forehead Sunday night after falling in his hotel room. While he cleared concussion testing, he'll be held out of the lineup for a second straight night. Jeff McNeil will bat ninth and fill left field. Per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Nimmo will likely available off the bench Tuesday and expects to be back in the lineup Wednesday.

  • Giants' Kolton Ingram: Claimed by San Francisco

The Giants claimed Ingram off waivers from the Cardinals on Tuesday and optioned him to Double-A Richmond.

This is the sixth organization Ingram has been in since January. He's spent all of 2024 in the minors, holding a 4.26 ERA and 26:19 K:BB over 25.1 innings at the Triple-A level.

  • Riley O'Brien RP | STL

Cardinals' Riley O'Brien: Set to throw bullpen

O'Brien (forearm) will throw a bullpen in the next day or two, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Tuesday.

O'Brien was shut down from throwing June 23 after reporting pain in his forearm, but he's resumed a throwing program and has a bullpen session scheduled. The 29-year-old has been on the IL since March 31 due to a flexor strain in his right forearm.

  • Bryan Hoeing RP | SD

    Marlins' Bryan Hoeing: Nearing reinstatement

Hoeing (hamstring) threw 2.2 innings in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday and was seen with the team ahead of Tuesday's game against Boston, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Hoeing has completed five rehab outings with Jacksonville and has gone deeper than one inning in three straight appearances. While he hasn't officially been reinstated, it appears as though Hoeing will rejoin the active roster soon considering he's currently with the team in Miami.
