Montgomery (finger) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Montgomery, who was cleared for a bullpen session after an exam last Wednesday, had been scheduled to throw Saturday but will now throw Tuesday. The left-hander built up prior to spring training and doesn't expect there to be any issue with being ready for the start of the season.

Paplham took a line drive off the side of the head Sunday versus the Dodgers, forcing him to exit the game in the bottom of the eighth inning, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Paplham was in the midst of his first appearance of the spring, surrendering two runs on two hits while also hitting a batter before taking a 102.4 mph line drive from Aaron Bracho off the head. The Padres were able to get the final out of the inning on the play. The right-hander was carted off the field, and more information on his status moving forward should be forthcoming.

Madrigal suffered a dislocated left shoulder during Sunday's spring game and is scheduled to undergo an MRI, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The infielder started at shortstop and sustained the injury during the first inning when he landed on the shoulder after charging a groundball and making an off-balance throw to first base. The severity of the injury isn't yet known as he awaits medical imaging, but Madrigal's availability for the start of the regular season is now in jeopardy.

Alcantara allowed one hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning during Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets.

The right-hander touched 99 mph and threw 13 of 17 pitches for strikes in his first game action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in October of 2023. Alcantara has already been announced as Miami's Opening Day starter for the March 27 game against the Pirates. Craig Mish of the Miami Herald doesn't expect the 29-year-old to have any pitching restrictions this season despite it being his first year back from the procedure.

Madrigal was removed from Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals with an apparent injury, SNY.tv reports.

Madrigal took a hard fall after making a charging throw at shortstop during the opening frame and exited the contest. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, and the 27-year-old should be considered day-to-day until more information is available.

Law figures to be part of the Nationals' high-leverage crew this season, but it's not clear if he'll get a chance to audition for the open closer role.

Speaking to reporters earlier in camp, general manager Mike Rizzo indicated that Law would be a key bullpen piece for Washington, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports. "We don't have a proven commodity at that position, but if the season started today, we would have a guy that we would say would be our ninth-inning guy," Rizzo said. "I don't know who it is yet. It could be Jose Ferrer. It could be Jorge Lopez. Law could have some leverage innings. And it could come from somebody that we haven't thought about yet." The latter category might also include Lucas Sims, who signed with the team earlier this week. Law has mainly been a middle reliever during a big-league career that stretches back to 2016, but he is coming off one of his best statistical seasons, posting a 2.60 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 76:24 K:BB over 90 innings with career highs in appearances (75), wins (seven) and holds (17).

Susana topped out at 103 mph with his fastball during Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports, but the right-hander threw only 20 of 34 pitches for strikes as he gave up a hit and two walks over a scoreless sixth inning. He struck out two.

One of the Nationals' top pitching prospects, Susana has yet to pitch above High-A as he continues to be developed as a starter. He'll turn 21 just before Opening Day, and his 157:48 K:BB over 103.2 innings between Single-A and High-A last season highlights both his tremendous upside and the amount of work he still needs to do to get his control and command to a level that will allow him to stick in the rotation.

Irvin tossed a perfect inning in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros.

The 28-year-old right-hander needed only eight pitches to breeze through his first game action of the spring. Per Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports, one of those eight pitches was a slider, an offering Irvin is trying to add to his arsenal in an effort to get more whiffs. "I struggled a lot with getting in-zone swing and miss last year," Irvin said after Saturday's outing. "[The slider] is something that will kind of balance out the really slower curveball and the harder fastball. And then my cutter and changeup are both a little harder, too. I wanted something that's in that middle ground there." Irvin posted a 4.41 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 156:52 K:BB over a career-high 187.2 innings in 2024.

Hope went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Saturday's Cactus League loss to Kansas City.

Hope belted a solo shot to the opposite field in the sixth inning. The power display came two days after the 19-year-old made a pair of impressive catches in the outfield in the Dodgers' spring opener. Hope isn't a candidate to break camp with the big club, but he's among the team's top prospects after posting a .905 OPS with nine home runs and eight stolen bases over 54 games at the Single-A level last season.

Holmes struck out three over three perfect innings during Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros.

The 31-year-old right-hander has made only four starts among his 311 career big-league appearances and none since 2018, but Holmes' attempt to win a spot in the Mets' rotation this spring got off to a brilliant start. He fired 26 of 34 pitches for strikes, and per Will Sammon of The Athletic, Holmes worked in seven changeups and a couple cutters, two new pitches that could help expand his arsenal from the sinker/slider/sweeper mix that allowed him to rack up 74 saves over the last three seasons for the Yankees.
