The Marlins recalled Gusto from Triple-A Jacksonville to pitch Tuesday against the Nationals.

Lake Bachar is opening Tuesday's contest for Miami with Gusto poised to follow as the bulk reliever. The 27-year-old made his season debut for the Marlins in early April with a scoreless inning out of the bullpen, but he's primarily worked out of the rotation at Jacksonville and posted a 3.83 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 52:17 K:BB across 44.2 innings.

The Marlins optioned Brzykcy to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.

He's being bumped from the roster in order to make room for Ryan Gusto. Brzykcy was with the Marlins for only one day and did not make an appearance.

Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer announced Monday that Herrera (elbow) has been diagnosed with a torn UCL and will miss the remainder of the season, Jack Janes of MLB.com reports.

Colorado placed Herrera on the 15-day injured list Friday due to left elbow inflammation, but he was shifted to the 60-day IL just two days later after a follow-up MRI apparently revealed that the 22-year-old reliever was dealing with ligament damage. Schaeffer said that the Rockies don't currently have a timeline for Herrera to go under the knife, as the left-hander will presumably receive additional medical evaluations before deciding whether to get Tommy John surgery, an internal brace procedure or a hybrid of the two. Even if Herrera avoids a UCL reconstruction and instead has a UCL repair surgery, he's still likely to require close to a full year of rehab and recovery before returning to game action in the middle or second half of the 2027 season.

Manager Carlos Mendoza indicated that Alvarez (knee) is scheduled to start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports.

Alvarez has been on the shelf the past few weeks after undergoing surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee, but he's now been cleared for game action. The 24-year-old was initially expected to be sidelined eight weeks, but he's significantly ahead of schedule in his recovery. If all goes well with Syracuse, Alvarez could be back on the active roster in a week or two.

Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Monday that Ekness is expected to miss approximately six weeks due to a right calf strain, Kyle Sielaff of Marlins.tv reports.

After Ekness was spotted moving around in the Miami clubhouse with the aid of crutches following Sunday's loss to the Mets, the Marlins placed him on the 15-day injured list a day later. Ekness was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday but didn't make any relief appearances during his second stint of the season with the big club. Given the estimated six-week recovery timeline, Ekness will remain on the shelf through the All-Star break.

Chapman went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's 16-2 loss to the Brewers.

Chapman launched a home run to center field in the second inning, marking his first homer since March 31 and his second on the campaign. The veteran third baseman has reached base safely in 10 of the last 12 games, batting .302 with 10 runs scored, seven walks and five RBI in 50 plate appearances during that span. He's now slashing .234/.315/.338 with 27 runs scored, 21 RBI and a 22.2 percent strikeout rate across 248 plate appearances this season.

The Nationals list Alvarez as their starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Marlins in Washington.

Alvarez will be making his second straight turn through the Washington rotation, this time in a traditional starter role after the Nationals deployed him as a bulk reliever Friday. Stepping into the rotation spot that had previously belonged to the injured Jake Irvin (shoulder), Alvarez entered the game after opener Paxton Schultz pitched the first inning. The 26-year-old lefty proceeded to work three innings, taking a no-decision while allowing three earned runs on five hits and two walks.

Atlanta re-signed Carrasco to a one-year contract Tuesday.

For the third time this season, Carrasco has found his way back to Atlanta's big-league roster shortly after electing free agency. The 39-year-old has allowed two runs with a 4:0 K:BB over 7.1 innings in the big leagues this season and will give Atlanta's bullpen some length.

Perdomo will not be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.

It will be the first day off since late April for Perdomo, who is hitless across his last three games and is now slashing only .221/.329/.344 for the season. Per Jack Sommers of SI.com, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo noted prior to Monday's contest that he's "thinking about" moving Perdomo -- who has yet to hit lower than third this season -- down in the batting order, so that could happen when he returns to the lineup Wednesday. Jose Fernandez will grab a start at shortstop Tuesday while Perdomo resets.

Lauer is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

Lauer will receive a second turn through the Dodgers' six-man rotation after a strong showing in his team debut a week ago. The southpaw took losses in five of his final seven appearances with the Blue Jays prior to being traded, but he scooped up a win in his first outing with the Dodgers, limiting the Rockies to one run on four hits and one walk while striking out four batters over six innings. Until the Dodgers get at least one of Tyler Glasnow (back) or Blake Snell (elbow) back from the injured list, Lauer should be able to hold down a rotation spot so long as he performs capably.
