The Reds recalled Marte from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

With Matt McLain (hamstring) headed to the injured list, Marte will rejoin the big-league squad to replenish the Reds' infield depth. The 23-year-old has gotten off to a hot start in the minors, slashing .353/.425/.529 with three steals through nine Triple-A games, though he owns just a .640 OPS in his MLB career.

The Reds optioned Spiers to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Spiers had a solid start to begin his season, allowing one earned run over six innings of work April 1. However, he allowed four earned across 3.1 innings in his following start Sunday. The 27-year-old will return to Triple-A Louisville, where he posted a 2.51 ERA across 46.2 innings in 2024. With Spiers' demotion and Matt McLain (hamstring) landing on the injured list, Will Benson and Noelvi Marte were both recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

The Reds placed McLain (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a left hamstring strain.

McLain was reportedly available off the bench Monday, but the Reds will instead err on the side of caution and give him more time to recover while on the injured list. He hasn't played since Saturday, so he'll be eligible to return from the IL in a week. While he's out, Santiago Espinal could benefit from increased playing time at second base, or the Reds could move Gavin Lux to the keystone from left field.

Snell (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing until Monday, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.

Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that the team doesn't plan to give Snell any treatment while he's shut down, instead deciding to see how he responds to several days of rest. A timeline for his return will likely emerge once he's cleared to resume throwing, though a minimum-length stay on the IL is almost certainly off the table.

The Brewers placed Thomas on 15-day injured list Tuesday due to left elbow arthritis.

The Rule 5 pickup earned a spot on the Brewers' Opening Day roster, but he struggled over his two relief appearances so far this season, allowing 12 earned runs over 5.1 innings. He'll cede his spot on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen to right-hander Nick Mears (illness), who was activated from the IL in a corresponding move.

Bart is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Bart clubbed his first homer of the season Monday and will sit Tuesday after starting the previous two games. Endy Rodriguez will shift behind the plate while Enmanuel Valdez starts at first base.

The Brewers reinstated Mears (illness) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Mears missed a significant amount of time during spring training due to an illness, and he began the season on the injured list in order to regain his strength. After throwing 3.2 scoreless innings during a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville, the 28-year-old righty is now ready to rejoin the Brewers' bullpen. He'll replace Connor Thomas (elbow), who landed on the injured list Tuesday.

McCutchen is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

McCutchen has a .988 OPS through 26 plate appearances this season but will receive a day off Tuesday. Bryan Reynolds is serving as the designated hitter while Jack Suwinski receives a start in the outfield.

Suarez (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Clearwater on Thursday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Suarez is slated to throw three innings for Clearwater in what will be his first game appearance since he went down with lower-back stiffness in mid-March. The left-hander will likely require at least two additional rehab starts before rejoining the Phillies' rotation. Taijuan Walker will continue to hold down a rotation spot for Philadelphia until Suarez is ready to return.

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker indicated Tuesday that Baldwin will still play quite a bit even after the return of Sean Murphy (rib) from the injured list, Grant McAuley of 92.9 The Game Atlanta reports.

Murphy is making his season debut Tuesday versus the Phillies and is expected to start two of three games in the series. Baldwin will still play fairly often, though, especially in the immediate future as Murphy eases back into things. Atlanta could eventually option Baldwin back to Triple-A Gwinnett so that he can be a primary catcher again, but for now he'll be an active No. 2 catcher with the big club.
