  • Giants' Mike Yastrzemski: Getting rest against lefty

Yastrzemski is not in the Giants' lineup Tuesday against the Brewers.

Yastrzemski will begin Tuesday's game on the bench with the Brewers sending southpaw Jose Quintana to the mound. The veteran outfielder also sat out Sunday's game against the Angels due to a left-hander starting, but he did play in Monday's series opener against the Brewers in which he reached base three times across four plate appearances. With the 34-year-old on the bench Tuesday, Luis Matos is starting in right field and batting sixth.

  • Dodgers' Michael Conforto: Taking seat vs. southpaw

Conforto is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs.

Conforto started the previous 11 contests, including one game against a left-handed starter, but he'll head to the bench Tuesday with lefty Shota Imanaga pitching for Chicago. The veteran outfielder has gone 5-for-37 (.135 average) during that 11-game span, so it could be a good time for a day off. Enrique Hernandez is starting at second base, which pushes Tommy Edman to center field and Andy Pages to left.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Receiving Tuesday off

Kelly is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Dodgers.

Kelly went 0-for-4 in Sunday's contest but has been one of the biggest stories in baseball early this season with six homers and a 1.502 OPS through 49 plate appearances. The 30-year-old and Miguel Amaya continue to split playing time behind the plate, however, with Amaya getting the start Tuesday.

  • Brandon Marsh LF | PHI

Phillies' Brandon Marsh: Nearing rehab assignment

Manager Rob Thomson said Tuesday that Marsh (hamstring) will likely begin a rehab assignment Thursday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Marsh has been sidelined for nearly a week due to knee/hamstring issues, but he was able to run around the bases Tuesday without any problems. Now that he seems to be recovered, the plan is for him to rest Wednesday before heading to one of the Phillies' minor-league affiliates to play in a few rehab games. Barring any setbacks, he seems to be on track to return from the IL when eligible Sunday.

  • Zac Veen LF | COL

Rockies' Zac Veen: Sitting against left-hander

Veen is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Kansas City.

It's left-hander Kris Bubic on the bump for the Royals, so the lefty-hitting Veen will begin the contest on the bench. The rookie outfielder has now started two of four games versus lefties and eight of nine contests against righties since being called up. Jordan Beck, Mickey Moniak and Sean Bouchard will be in the outfield for the Rockies to begin Tuesday's series opener.

  • Brenton Doyle CF | CHW

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Remains on bereavement list

Doyle (personal) was not activated from the bereavement list prior to Tuesday's game in Kansas City.

Doyle shared on his Instagram account Sunday that he and his wife lost their unborn baby. He has missed the minimum three games while on bereavement, and the Rockies will give him as much time away from the club as he needs during this difficult period.

  • Nick Allen SS | HOU

Braves' Nick Allen: Out of Tuesday's lineup

Allen is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Allen started the previous four games but will take a seat Tuesday after going 1-for-12 with a walk and five strikeouts during that span. Orlando Arcia will step in at shortstop against St. Louis righty Andre Pallante.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Unavailable due to rib issue

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that Donovan is unavailable Tuesday after a rib popped out of place earlier in the day, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Donovan's availability for Wednesday's series finale in Atlanta is also in question, although Marmol said it's unlikely the super-utility player will require a trip to the 10-day injured list. Nolan Gorman is occupying second base and batting third for St. Louis on Tuesday.

  • Jorge Barrosa CF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Summoned from minors

The Diamondbacks recalled Barrosa from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

It's the corresponding roster move for Jake McCarthy, who has been optioned to Reno. Barrosa got a cup of coffee last season with the Diamondbacks, going 3-for-17 at the plate in eight games. He will operate as a reserve outfielder in Arizona.

  • Cubs' Gavin Hollowell: Joins big-league bullpen

The Cubs recalled Hollowell from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

It's the corresponding move for Jordan Wicks, who was optioned to Iowa on Monday. Hollowell had allowed three runs with a 10:3 K:BB over 6.1 frames with Iowa this season. He holds a career 6.00 ERA across 33 big-league appearances.
