  • Pirates' Endy Rodriguez: Set to begin rehab assignment

Rodriguez (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Rodriguez has been shelved for the past month with a laceration on his right index finger but has been cleared to test himself in a game setting. The switch hitter shouldn't require too many at-bats in the minors before being activated from the 10-day injured list.

  • Pirates' Enmanuel Valdez: Moved to 60-day IL

The Pirates transferred Valdez (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

The transaction clears room on the 40-man roster for waiver pickup Michael Helman and ensures that Valdez won't be available for the big club until around the All-Star break. The Pirates initially deactivated Valdez on May 9 due to left shoulder inflammation, but his move to the 60-day IL could suggest that he's dealing with a more significant injury. Before getting injured, Valdez had been seeing regular reps at first base, but playing time could be difficult to come by for him once he's activated since Spencer Horwitz (wrist) is poised to beat him back from the IL.

  • Michael Helman CF | TEX

Pirates' Michael Helman: Claimed by Pirates

The Pirates claimed Helman off waivers from the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Helman will be assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis. The utility player has slashed only .185/.260/.292 over 18 games with Triple-A Memphis this season.

  • Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Set to lose 40-man roster spot

The Dodgers are expected to designate Barnes for assignment Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Barnes had been the team's longest-tenured position player but will lose his 40-man roster spot with the Dodgers set to promote prospect Dalton Rushing from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 35-year-old Barnes is making $3.5 million this season and is slashing only .214/.233/.286 in 13 contests.

  • Dodgers' Dalton Rushing: Poised for big-league promotion

The Dodgers will call up Rushing from Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Austin Barnes will be designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Rushing has torched Pacific Coast League pitching this season, slashing .308/.424/.514 with five home runs and a 29:21 K:BB over 132 plate appearances. He's made 16 starts at catcher, eight starts at first base and one start in left field this season. With Teoscar Hernandez (groin) and Tommy Edman (ankle) on the injured list and with Michael Conforto struggling, Rushing's best opportunity for playing time could come in the outfield. He will also see starts at catcher on off days for Will Smith.

  • Mickey Moniak LF | COL

Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Getting afternoon off

Moniak is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

The Rangers are starting a lefty (Patrick Corbin) in a day game after a night game, so Rockies interim manager Warren Schaeffer likely viewed Wednesday as an opportune time to give the lefty-hitting Moniak a breather. Moniak had started in right field in each of the Rockies' last 10 games, slashing .265/.278/.382 with zero home runs, one stolen base, three runs and three RBI.

  • Alan Trejo SS | COL

Rockies' Alan Trejo: Taking seat Wednesday

Trejo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

After starting at shortstop in each of the Rockies' previous four games, Trejo will give way to Kyle Farmer in the series finale in Texas. With Ezequiel Tovar (hip) in the midst of a rehab assignment and on track to return from the injured list as soon as this weekend, Trejo is likely to see his playing time take a significant hit in the near future.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Rockies' Kyle Farmer: Batting second Wednesday

Farmer will start at shortstop and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Back in the lineup Wednesday for just the second time in five games, Farmer will occupy a prominent spot in the batting order while typical No. 2 hitter Jordan Beck slides down to the three hole. Farmer has produced a meager .601 OPS over 117 plate appearances on the season, so barring a big performance Wednesday, he's unlikely to see regular opportunities in a premium spot in the lineup.

  • Adael Amador 2B | COL

Rockies' Adael Amador: Sitting out Wednesday

Amador is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Amador has been seeing most of the starts at second base for the Rockies of late, but he's yet to completely run away with a full-time job, batting just .158 with a 28.1 percent strikeout rate since being promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque in mid-April. Owen Miller will get the nod at the keystone Wednesday.

  • Kyle Karros 3B | COL

Rockies' Kyle Karros: Nursing injury at Double-A

Double-A Hartford placed Karros on its 7-day injured list May 6 due to an unspecified issue.

Karros hasn't played since May 2. The 22-year-old third base prospect produced a .333/.447/.513 slash line to go with two home runs and four stolen bases across 94 plate appearances with Hartford before being shut down.
