King has been scored upon in seven of 16 appearances this season out of the Cardinals' bullpen.

King was a trusted reliever for manager Oliver Marmol the previous two seasons, collecting a 2.75 ERA across 75 appearances. The sinker baller is still inducing grounders at an elite 64.3 percent rate, but an ugly 4.91 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 8:6 K:BB over 14.2 frames has reduced the southpaw to low-leverage appearances in 2025, as King's lone hold this season came back on Opening Day.

Koss is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Koss had served as the Giants' primary second baseman through the first two weeks of May, but his starting opportunities are likely to be scarcer moving forward after Tyler Fitzgerald and Casey Schmitt were both activated from the injured list within the past few days. Fitzgerald will get the nod at the keystone Wednesday while Koss hits the bench for the fifth time in the last six games.

Sanoja is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

After starting in each of the last seven games, Sanoja will give up his spot in the middle infield to Graham Pauley, who gets the nod at second base while Otto Lopez slides over to shortstop. Sanoja had been seeing most of his action at the keystone to begin the month, but he'll likely receive most of his starts at shortstop until Xavier Edwards (back) returns from the injured list.

Jameson was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Reno on Tuesday due to a lateral right elbow issue, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.

The good news is that the injury is in an area of the elbow unrelated to the UCL, so it's not any sort of setback from last year's Tommy John surgery. Still, Jameson will be shut down for a few weeks before ramping things back up, so he won't be an option for the Diamondbacks for some time.

Hicks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Over the past month, Hicks has slashed .372/.413/.744 over a stretch of 13 games and has earned a larger role as a result, but he's still not locked into a full-time role while the Marlins have Agustin Ramirez and Nick Fortes on hand at catcher and a number of other options available to handle designated-hitter duties. Hicks will remain on the bench for a second straight game with Ramirez handling catching duties Wednesday and with Matt Mervis getting the nod at DH.

Long (leg) struck out in a pinch-hit appearance Tuesday in Triple-A Iowa's 3-2 loss to Columbus.

Long exited Iowa's game Saturday due to a tight leg muscle, and then sat out Sunday. After a team off day Monday, Long remained out of the lineup Tuesday, but his usage off the bench suggests that he'll avoid a stint on the 7-day injured list. It's unclear how soon he might resume playing either corner-infield spot, but Iowa could deploy him at designated hitter to keep his bat in the lineup. The 23-year-old is slashing .368/.429/.533 with a 9.5 percent walk rate and 25.3 percent strikeout rate in his first season at Triple-A.

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Valdez recently underwent season-ending surgery on his dislocated left shoulder, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.

Tomczyk estimated that Valdez would require about six months of recovery time, so the 26-year-old utility man should be back to full strength or close to it for spring training. Before being shut down with what was initially labeled as an inflamed left shoulder before it was determined he suffered a dislocation, Valdez played in 31 games for the Pirates and slashed .209/.294/.363 with two home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs across 102 plate appearances.

Sykora threw three perfect innings for Single-A Fredericksburg on Tuesday while striking out five.

The 21-year-old righty had a delayed start to the season as he recovered from offseason hip surgery, but Sykora has been dominant since being cleared to get back on the mound. After two appearances in the Florida Complex League in which he compiled a 14:1 K:BB through only five innings, Sykora got bumped up to Single-A and has kept rolling, producing a 0.00 ERA and 9:2 K:BB in six innings over two starts. His workload is still being monitored -- he threw only 42 pitches (29 strikes) Tuesday -- but another promotion to High-A could come quickly given the lack of a challenge Carolina League hitters are presenting him.

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said that Jones will undergo season-ending surgery Wednesday on his right elbow, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Tomczyk didn't indicate whether the upcoming procedure will be Tommy John surgery, an internal brace surgery or another kind of surgery, so Jones' status for the 2026 season won't be immediately known until more details are provided. Even if the 23-year-old righty doesn't need to miss much time to begin the 2026 season, he could struggle to immediately regain his pre-surgery velocity and command, making him a risky investment in fantasy leagues.

Lindor went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.

The Mets managed only four hits on the night, but Lindor did what he could to kick-start some offense from the top of the order. The All-Star shortstop is slashing just .233/.313/.397 through 18 games in May, but he's supplied three of his nine homers and five of his seven steals on the season during that span.
