Nick Solak DH | SD
Padres' Nick Solak: Removed from 40-man roster
The Padres designated Solak for assignment Sunday.
San Diego dropped Solak from the 40-man roster to open up a spot for Miguel Andujar (hamstring), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Called up from Triple-A El Paso after Andujar landed on the IL on June 13, Solak appeared in four games and went 1-for-7 with a walk and an RBI during his one-week stay with San Diego.

Jose Cabrera SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Jose Cabrera: Contract selected for MLB debut
The Diamondbacks selected Cabrera's contract from Triple-A Reno to start Sunday's game versus the Twins.
It will be the big-league debut for the 24-year-old righty, who has pitched well between the Double-A and Triple-A levels this year with a 3.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 64:16 K:BB over 61 innings. Recent injuries sustained by Michael Soroka (lower body) and Ryne Nelson (elbow) could provide an opening for Cabrera to get an extended look in the rotation, especially if he acquits himself well in his MLB debut.

Josh Ekness RP | MIA
Marlins' Josh Ekness: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Marlins transferred Ekness (calf) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.
When Ekness was initially placed on the IL on June 1 due to a right calf strain, manager Clayton McCullough indicated that the right-handed reliever would be out for approximately six weeks. Ekness' move to the 60-day IL likely pushes his absence into August. The 24-year-old posted a 1.69 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 5:5 K:BB in 5.1 innings over six appearances for Miami prior to being injured.

Brian Navarreto C | MIA
Marlins' Brian Navarreto: Summoned from Triple-A
The Marlins selected Navarreto's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.
He'll provide Miami with a second option at catcher behind Joe Mack after the Marlins moved Liam Hicks (back) to the 10-day injured list Sunday. Mack is expected to shoulder a heftier workload behind the dish while Hicks is shelved, so Navarreto may not get more than a start or two a week while he's up.

Javier Sanoja 3B | MIA
Marlins' Javier Sanoja: Sitting Sunday
Sanoja is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Sanoja will be held out of the starting nine for the series finale while the Marlins go with their third different third baseman in as many days. Connor Norby will get a turn at the hot corner Sunday after Sanoja and Leo Jimenez made starts at the position in the first two contests of the series.

Liam Hicks C | MIA
Marlins' Liam Hicks: Heads to IL with back strain
The Marlins placed Hicks on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a lower-back strain.
Hicks was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's 6-3 win over the Giants due to what was initially reported as lower-back tightness, and he'll miss at least another nine days after being diagnosed with a strain. Per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, manager Clayton McCullough said that he believes that Hicks' injury was detected quickly enough for him to avoid an extended absence, though the skipper acknowledged that the Marlins won't known until around the middle of the week whether the 27-year-old has a chance at returning from the IL when first eligible June 30. Griffin Conine (hamstring) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Sunday and is the most likely candidate to fill Hicks' vacated spot in the lineup.

Miguel Andujar DH | SD
Padres' Miguel Andujar: Makes return from IL
The Padres reinstated Andujar (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Sunday.
San Diego designated Nick Solak for assignment to clear room for Andujar, who will be available off the bench for Sunday's series finale versus the Rangers. Andujar should eventually settle back into a near-everyday role after he had produced a .254/.288/.418 slash line with five home runs, two stolen bases, 17 RBI and 18 runs in 54 games prior to suffering a left hamstring strain June 13.

Shota Imanaga SP | CHC
Cubs' Shota Imanaga: Cubs-Blue Jays postponed Sunday
Imanaga won't start as scheduled Sunday against the Blue Jays after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Chicago.
The two teams will make up the game Aug. 6. Imanaga has given up just one run across 10.2 frames in his past two starts and will get at least one more day of rest before his next appearance. The Cubs seem likely to push their entire rotation back one day as a result of the postponement, so the Japanese lefty will presumably start Monday's series opener against the Mets in New York.

Keibert Ruiz C | WAS
Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Drawing rest Sunday
Ruiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
Ruiz will be given a breather for the series finale after he started behind the plate the past three games while going 3-for-11 with a run scored. Drew Millas will handle catching duties Sunday for Washington.
