  • Nolan Gorman 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Idle against southpaw

Gorman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Though he had started the Cardinals' last four games and is expected to handle a regular role against right-handed pitching after Ivan Herrera (hamstring) landed on the injured list Friday, Gorman will take a seat Sunday with southpaw Andrew Abbott toeing the rubber for the Reds.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Absence continuing Sunday

Estrada (hand) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Estrada will sit for a fifth straight game as he continues to manage a bruised right hand. The veteran infielder said Saturday that he doesn't believe he'll require a stint on the injured list, but he could still end up on the shelf if his absence extends much longer. Kyle Farmer will man the keystone Sunday for Colorado.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Getting rest Sunday

Pages is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Pages will get some rest after he started behind the plate each of the Cardinals' last three games. Yohel Pozo will draw the start at catcher and will form a battery with right-hander Miles Mikolas.

  • Rece Hinds RF | MIA

Reds' Rece Hinds: Moves up from Triple-A

The Reds recalled Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.

Hinds will be up for the second time this season after he went 3-for-19 with a pair of home runs during a two-week stretch with the big club in May. He'll receive another look after slashing .381/.435/.683 with a palatable 21.7 percent strikeout rate so far in June for Louisville. Expect the Reds to deploy Hinds mainly as a short-side platoon player in the corner outfield or at designated hitter.

  • Reds' Santiago Espinal: Heading to bench Sunday

Espinal is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

After starting at third base in three of the past four games, Espinal appeared to have taken back primary duties from the struggling Christian Encarnacion-Strand, but both players will be left out of the lineup Sunday. Gavin Lux will step in at the hot corner, opening up the designated hitter spot for Tyler Stephenson, who gets a day off from catching.

  • Reds' Christian Encarnacion-Strand: Playing time trending down

Encarnacion-Strand is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Encarnacion-Strand got off to a hot start at the plate upon returning from the injured list June 6, but he's gone just 3-for-25 with seven strikeouts over his last seven contests. Now on the bench for the fourth time in the Reds' last five games, Encarnacion-Strand could be in danger of a demotion to Triple-A Louisville during the upcoming week. The Reds announced Sunday that Jeimer Candelario (back) has returned from his rehab assignment, and Encarnacion-Strand would be a logical candidate to get optioned to clear a spot for the veteran.

  • Connor Norby 1B | MIA

Marlins' Connor Norby: Resting up Sunday

Norby is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

After going 4-for-19 with a home run, four walks, one stolen base, two RBI and an additional run while starting six straight games, Norby will get a breather. Javier Sanoja will fill in for Norby at third base.

  • Alex Verdugo LF | SD

Braves' Alex Verdugo: Reclaims regular lineup spot

Verdugo will start in left field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Marlins.

He appears to have taken back primary starting duties in left field from Eli White, as Verdugo gets a fifth straight start against a right-handed pitcher (Sandy Alcantara). Though his playing time has been trending up of late, Verdugo will move into a fourth-outfielder role beginning July 2, when Jurickson Profar (suspension) is eligible to return from the restricted list.

  • Corbin Carroll RF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: MRI on tap

Manager Torey Lovullo said Carroll (hand), who is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Colorado, will undergo an MRI in Chicago on Monday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

The outfielder was apparently available to pinch hit Saturday while his bruised left hand continues to show improvement, but the Diamondbacks will exercise caution and send him for additional imaging Monday. Carroll is sitting for a fourth straight game Sunday and should be considered day-to-day heading into the series opener against the White Sox.

  • Eli White RF | ATL

Braves' Eli White: Losing work to Verdugo

White is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

After a brief run as Atlanta's primary left fielder, White appears to have slipped back into a short-side platoon role. He'll be on the bench for a fifth straight matchup versus a right-handed pitcher, with Alex Verdugo having started in left field in each of those contests. Both Verdugo and White are expected to see their opportunities in the outfield dwindle once Jurickson Profar (suspension) is cleared to return July 2.
