Carmen Mlodzinski RP | PIT
Pirates' Carmen Mlodzinski: Earns win in relief
Mlodzinski (2-5) allowed two hits over 3.2 scoreless innings of relief against the Mets on Sunday. He struck out two and earned the win.
Mlodzinski took on a bulk-relief role in the blowout victory after Mike Burrows and Genesis Cabrera combined to allow one run over 5.1 frames. Mlodzinski threw 35 of 54 pitches for strikes and secured his first win since April 7. Since returning from Triple-A Indianapolis to join the big club's bullpen, he's produced a 3.09 ERA across 11.2 innings. For the year, Mlodzinski owns a 5.08 ERA with a 36:16 K:BB in 51.1 frames.

Daylen Lile LF | WAS
Nationals' Daylen Lile: Racks up three hits
Lile went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Sunday's 7-4 extra-innings win over the Angels.
Lile extended his hitting streak to eight games, and this was his second multi-hit effort in that span. He hasn't displayed much power during the heater, logging just two extra-base hits (both doubles), but the consistency is a positive. The outfielder is now batting .234 with a .649 OPS, one home run, two stolen bases, four RBI and 12 runs scored over 84 plate appearances. He continues to see most of the time in right field versus right-handed pitchers while Dylan Crews (oblique) is on the injured list.

Michael Burrows SP | HOU
Pirates' Mike Burrows: Fans five in no-decision
Burrows did not factor in the decision during Sunday's win against the Mets. He allowed a run on four hits and a walk while striking out five over 4.1 innings.
Burrows got the start Sunday on short rest after making a multi-inning relief appearance against Milwaukee on Wednesday. While he did not qualify for the win, he was sharp, with the lone blemish on his outing being Luis Torrens' solo shot in the fifth inning. Burrows dropped his ERA to 4.15 with a 35:10 K:BB through 34.2 innings this season. He's currently slated to start in Seattle next weekend.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Giants' Justin Verlander: Logs quality start
Verlander didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the White Sox, allowing one run on five hits and two walks across six innings. He struck out three.
Verlander notched his fifth quality start of the campaign, snapping a streak of three straight starts without pitching into the sixth frame. The only damage against Verlander came in the first inning, when Andrew Benintendi plated Mike Tauchman on a sacrifice fly. The 42-year-old righty owns a decent 4.26 ERA to pair with a 55:25 K:BB over 67.2 innings this season. However, he's the only pitcher in baseball with at least 10 starts who doesn't have a win.

Henry Davis C | PIT
Pirates' Henry Davis: Knocks four hits
Davis went 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Mets.
Davis singled and scored in the second and eighth frames, sandwiched around a double in the fourth inning. He was stuck in a 3-for-33 (.091) skid since his last multi-hit performance June 7. Davis is now slashing .207/.273/.351 with eight extra-base hits through 38 appearances.

James Wood RF | WAS
Nationals' James Wood: Gets aboard five times in win
Wood went 1-for-2 with four intentional walks and a stolen base in Sunday's 7-4 extra-innings win over the Angels.
The Angels clearly wanted little to do with Wood, as they walked him intentionally four times. Per Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post, the emerging young star became the first MLB player to be intentionally walked four times in one game since Barry Bonds in 2004. During the Nationals' nine-game road trip through Southern California, Wood went 9-for-33 (.273) with two home runs, eight RBI, two steals and a 10:14 BB:K. Seven of those walks came over three games against the Angels. Wood has displayed strong plate discipline this season with a 14.5 percent walk rate, though he also has a fairly pedestrian 26.8 percent strikeout rate. He's added a .283/.386/.552 slash line with 22 homers, 11 steals, 64 RBI and 52 runs scored across 84 contests.

Jameson Taillon SP | CHC
Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Labors in loss
Taillon (7-6) took the loss Sunday against Houston, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.
Taillon couldn't complete five innings Sunday, as the Astros worked him up to 107 pitches before a two-run home run by Jose Altuve prompted manager Craig Counsell to pull Taillon. Taillon has surrendered six home runs in his last three starts, going 0-3 with a 10.66 ERA and nine strikeouts over 12.2 innings during that stretch. He'll look to get back on track against the Cardinals next weekend.

Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN
Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Doubles twice, scores three runs
Hayes went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Mets.
Hayes got things going early with a two-run single and a run scored in the first inning. He later doubled and scored in the fifth and seventh frames. He's on an eight-game hitting streak and collected multiple hits in each contest during the Pirates' three-game sweep of the Mets. Hayes has gone 13-for-29 (.448) during his hitting streak, raising his season slash line to .246/.297/.305 through 307 plate appearances.

Kyle Finnegan RP | DET
Nationals' Kyle Finnegan: Goes three innings to grab win
Finnegan (1-2) walked two and struck out two over three scoreless and hitless innings to earn the extra-innings win over the Angels on Sunday.
Finnegan was brought in to keep the game tied in the ninth inning. He achieved that goal and did the same in the 10th before protecting the three-run lead the Nationals generated in the 11th. It's just the fourth time all season he's been asked to cover more than one inning, though three of those instances have been in his last seven appearances. Finnegan was also fresh for this outing, while every other reliever in the Nationals' bullpen had pitched Friday or Saturday, and he got through it on 30 pitches (20 strikes). He's posted decent numbers with a 2.61 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 25:10 K:BB across 31 innings, and he's also converted 18 of 23 save chances in 30 appearances. The Nationals are traveling back home for a three-game series versus the Tigers that starts Tuesday, so Finnegan should have plenty of time to rest up for the next save chance that arises.

Mitchell Parker RP | WAS
Nationals' Mitchell Parker: Yields three runs in no-decision
Parker allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Sunday.
Parker held his own in this outing, throwing 48 of 76 pitches for strikes. He lost four of his six starts in June, but he was able to limit the damage to three runs or less in five of them. Parker is now at a 4.63 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 62:36 K:BB through 91.1 innings over 17 starts this season. The southpaw's next start is expected to be at home versus the Red Sox.
