  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Day off Tuesday

Estrada is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Boston.

It's a routine day off for Estrada, who had started the previous 13 contests. Orlando Arcia will cover first base and bat eighth for the Rockies.

  • Robert Gasser SP | MIL

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Rehab start next week

Gasser (elbow) is on track to begin a rehab assignment with the Brewers' Arizona Complex League affiliate next week, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

That's assuming everything goes well during his live batting practice session later this week. Gasser is coming back from June 2024 Tommy John surgery and could be considered for a role with the big club at some point in August or September.

  • Brewers' Nestor Cortes: Continuing rehab stint

Cortes (elbow) will continue his rehab assignment Thursday with High-A Wisconsin, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

The veteran left-hander covered three scoreless innings during his first rehab outing with Triple-A Nashville on July 2, and he'll attempt to build up to around the 65-pitch mark Thursday. After his upcoming outing with Wisconsin, Cortes is likely to make an additional rehab start before potentially rejoining Milwaukee's rotation shortly after the All-Star break. Cortes has been on the shelf since April 6 due to a left elbow flexor strain.

  • Rob Zastryzny RP | MIL

Brewers' Rob Zastryzny: Aiming to return in late July

Zastryzny (ribs) hopes to resume throwing Wednesday and return to the Brewers' active roster in late July, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Zastryzny has been out for all of July with a ribs stress reaction. He will likely require a rehab assignment before being activated.

  • Blake Perkins CF | MIL

Brewers' Blake Perkins: Hopes to re-start rehab Friday

Perkins (groin) hopes to re-start a rehab assignment Friday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Perkins had to be pulled off his initial rehab assignment for a fractured shin when he suffered a left groin strain last week. He's evidently taken strides in his recovery, though, and should be back in game action soon. It's possible Perkins will be ready to rejoin the Brewers by the start of the second half or shortly after.

  • Ivan Herrera DH | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Rehab games coming this week

Herrera (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Thursday or Friday and expects to be activated from the 10-day injured list upon resumption of play after the All-Star break, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Coming back from a strained left hamstring, Herrera ran the bases at full speed over the weekend and is able to do all other baseball activities. He will presumably remain on his rehab assignment with Memphis through early next week before returning to the Cardinals' active roster coming out of the All-Star break. Herrera was operating as the team's primary designated hitter before getting hurt, and he will be an everyday player between DH and catcher, once activated.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Brewers' Rhys Hoskins: Out until mid-to-late August

The Brewers announced Tuesday that Hoskins (thumb) is hoping to return from the 10-day injured list by mid-to late-August, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Hoskins has a Grade 2 UCL sprain in his left thumb, an injury he suffered while applying a tag during Saturday's loss to the Marlins. Andrew Vaughn started at first base for the Brewers in Monday's win over the Dodgers and could be the primary option at the position while Hoskins is on the shelf. Jake Bauers should also be in the mix for playing time at first base.

  • Alexis Diaz RP | TEX

Dodgers' Alexis Diaz: Poised for Dodgers debut

The Dodgers are expected to call up Diaz from Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of Tuesday's game against the Brewers, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The former Reds closer was acquired by the Dodgers in late May and has made just six appearances for Oklahoma City since being traded, giving up five earned runs with a 3:7 K:BB over 4.2 innings. Diaz should fill a low-leverage role early on for the Dodgers but could work his way into higher-leverage spots. However, the 28-year-old's recent body of work at Triple-A doesn't provide much evidence that he's rediscovered his All-Star form.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Held out of lineup again Tuesday

Arenado (shoulder) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.

Arenado missed the final two games of the weekend series against the Cubs with a right shoulder impingement and had an extra day of rest with the Cardinals being idle Monday. Manager Oliver Marmol said Arenado is feeling better and hopes to avoid the 10-day injured list, but more will be known about his status Wednesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Nolan Gorman is at third base and batting fifth for St. Louis.

  • Zach Pop RP | PHI

Mets' Zach Pop: DFA'd by Mets

The Mets designated Pop for assignment on Tuesday.

The right-hander inked a major-league contract with New York at the start of July after being cut loose by Seattle, but the Mets also decided to move on after just one appearance. Pop gave up three runs over 1.1 innings during his brief time in Queens and has surrendered 11 earned runs across 6.2 frames overall in the majors this year.
