Holmes didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Orioles, coughing up five runs on seven hits and a walk over five-plus innings. He struck out five.

The Mets took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Holmes had the wheels come off his start after he plunked Jackson Holliday to begin the frame. The 32-year-old right-hander got the hook after 87 pitches (58 strikes) and escaped his fifth loss of the year when New York rallied late. Holmes hasn't completed six innings in an outing since June 7, and he could be tiring in his first season as a full-time starter since he was a minor leaguer in the Pirates' system. Holmes is expected to handle a smaller workload Sunday in Kansas City as he gets piggybacked by a returning Sean Manaea (elbow/oblique), and he could get extra rest over the All-Star break depending on how the Mets re-shuffle their rotation to accommodate Manaea and Kodai Senga (hamstring). Over his last five starts, Holmes has a 4.32 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 16:17 K:BB in 25 innings.

Kershaw (4-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three in six innings.

Kershaw tossed three scoreless before the Brewers compiled five base hits against him in the fourth, leading to two runs and the eventual loss opposite rookie phenom Jacob Misiorowski. Kershaw managed to go six innings for a third consecutive start, though he's now given up 15 hits over his past two outings. He hasn't been missing a ton of bats, and his 6.2 K/9 would be the lowest mark of his Hall of Fame career. Still, Kershaw owns a 2.57 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over his last six starts and is not set to take the mound again until after the All-Star break.

Cruz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Royals.

Cruz continued his all-or-nothing approach at the plate Tuesday by blasting his 16th home run of the season in the fourth inning to tie the game at 1-1. He has four long balls and 10 stolen bases across his last 30 starts, but he's hit just .161 with a .552 OPS and a 33.6 percent strikeout rate in that same span.

Turner blasted a pinch-hit solo home run in Tuesday's 8-1 loss to the Twins.

Turner pinch hit in the ninth inning with the Cubs down 8-0, so his second home run of the season didn't have any effect on the outcome of the game. The veteran has been relegated to a reserve role in Chicago and has struggled, recording a .215/.296/.299 slash line through 125 plate appearances. His .595 OPS is down significantly from the .737 mark he posted last year between Seattle and Toronto, and Turner's lack of regular playing time and subpar production diminish his fantasy appeal.

Hodge allowed six runs on five hits and a walk while retiring only one batter in Tuesday's 8-1 loss to the Twins.

The silver lining is that the Cubs already trailed 2-0 when Hodge entered the game in the eighth inning, so he didn't take the loss, but he otherwise had a miserable performance. The righty served up three home runs in the frame before departing, including back-to-back shots to Ryan Jeffers and Willi Castro. Hodge saw his ERA jump from 4.63 to 6.85 in the process, and he'll need to string together some better appearances to regain trust in the Chicago bullpen.

Imanaga (5-3) allowed two runs on five hits across six innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Twins. He struck out one and did not issue a walk.

Imanaga pitched well in his six innings of work, but he departed with the Cubs down 2-0, and then Minnesota tacked on six runs in the eighth in an eventual 8-1 victory. The lefty continued his consistent stretch of strong play, as he's now allowed two runs or fewer in eight of his 11 starts this season, and his ERA is sitting at a tidy 2.80 to go along with a minuscule 0.98 WHIP. About the only negative to his game right now is his 6.2 K/9, which is down from 9.0 in 2024, but the 31-year-old has still been effective at limiting offense. Imanaga will look to keep rolling and get a little more run support in his next outing, which is currently penciled in for Sunday against the Yankees on the road.

McLain went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 12-2 loss to the Marlins.

McLain got the Reds out early with a first-inning home run, his 10th of the season and first in 14 games. The long ball snapped an 0-for-18 run for McLain, who's batting just .107 (3-for-28) during the month of July.

Grichuk was added to Tuesday's starting lineup as the designated hitter after Alek Thomas (knee) was scratched. Grichuk went 0-for-4 in a 1-0 loss to San Diego.

Grichuk, who typically starts against lefties only, made a second start against a right-hander (Nick Pivetta) since Pavin Smith (oblique) landed on the 10-day injured list. The lefty-batting Jake McCarthy was in the original starting lineup as the DH but moved to center field to cover for Thomas. Grichuk could see additional opportunities while Smith and Thomas are unavailable.

Fraley (shoulder) went 1-for-3 with a run scored for Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Fraley kicked off a rehab assignment Tuesday, playing five innings in left field while getting the maximum number of plate appearances as the leadoff batter. The Reds plan to have him make another two appearances before Fraley is re-evaluated, per MLB.com.

Morillo is expected to pitch in high-leverage situations after Shelby Miller (forearm) was placed on the 15-day injured list, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.

Miller had taken over the closer role following season-ending injuries to A.J. Puk (elbow) and Justin Martinez (elbow). Miller's injury leaves manager Torey Lovullo scrambling to fill out the late-game crew. Kevin Ginkel saved Monday's game after Morillo finished out the eighth inning. Morillo, fellow rookie Kyle Backhus and Jalen Beeks are expected to be part of the mix. The 26-year-old Morillo is 29 games into his MLB career and has a 3.91 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with 26 strikeouts and 15 walks over 25.1 innings.
