Rodriguez (3-6) allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three over four innings to take the loss Thursday versus the Padres.

Rodriguez's July is off to a terrible start, as he's allowed 13 runs (12 earned) across 8.1 innings in his two starts this month. He's had particular trouble with the long ball, surrendering five homers across those outings, including serving up solo shots to Fernando Tatis and Manny Machado in this contest. Even by his standards this year, Rodriguez has not been pitching well lately. He's now at a 5.94 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 90:29 K:BB through 80.1 innings over 16 starts. He'll get some extra time off for the All-Star break, which could be just the pause he needs to reset and get on track for the second half.

Soroka (3-7) took the loss Thursday against St. Louis, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out four.

Soroka allowed seven runs to the Red Sox in his previous start, making Thursday's outing a bounce-back effort. Still, the Nationals didn't offer much run support, leaving the 27-year-old with his fourth loss in six outings. Soroka will take a 5.35 ERA and a 74:19 K:BB over 63.1 innings into the All-Star break.

Mikolas (5-6) picked up the win Thursday against Washington, allowing two hits and one walk with six strikeouts over 5.2 scoreless innings

Mikolas got back on track after a pair of awful starts, during which he combined to give up 14 runs and eight homers across 10 innings. Thursday's victory was his first in eight outings and snapped a streak of six consecutive appearances allowing a homer. It's a step in the right direction for the 36-year-old as he looks to find his early-season form. Mikolas posted a 3.51 ERA across 51.1 innings during his first 10 starts. His ERA has increased to 4.94 since then.

Sheets went 3-for-3 with a walk and one run scored in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Sheets hit out of the cleanup spot for the third game in a row, and this one was notable as it came against Arizona lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. The change to the Padres' batting order has been against all pitchers recently as manager Mike Shildt looks to spark a slumping Jackson Merrill. Sheets has certainly earned a prolific spot in the lineup -- he's batting .295 over his last 30 games, though he has a relatively modest 10 extra-base hits in that span. For the season, the veteran outfielder has a .269/.328/.456 slash line, 14 home runs, 50 RBI, 35 runs scored, 14 doubles, one triple and one stolen base over 90 contests. His move to San Diego for 2025 has paid off as he tracks toward a career year nearly across the board.

Contreras went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's 8-1 win over the Nationals.

Contreras took Jackson Rutledge deep in the seventh inning for a solo home run, bringing his season total up to 12 round trippers. The outing continued a solid stretch of play at the plate, as Contreras is 12-for-47 (.255) with seven runs scored and a 4:8 BB:K in his last 11 games. He's slashing .254/.343/.430 in 2025.

Tatis went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Tatis started the comeback effort for the Padres with his third-inning homer to answer Arizona's two-run effort in the top half of that frame. Tatis is 10-for-33 (.303) with four extra-base hits and two stolen bases across nine games to begin July. For the season, the star outfielder is up to a .262/.358/.450 slash line with 16 homers, 41 RBI, 64 runs scored, 19 stolen bases, 13 doubles and two triples over 91 games. He's primarily served as San Diego's leadoff hitter and could threaten for his first 30-30 season with a strong second half.

Machado went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Machado has three homers over his last seven games. The third baseman is batting a decent .278 (10-for-36) over nine contests in July, a little bit down from his .291 average for the season. He's added strong all-around production with an .838 OPS, 16 homers, 54 RBI, 55 runs scored, eight stolen bases and 22 doubles through 93 games.

Suarez struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Suarez threw nine of 13 pitches for strikes in this appearance, which was his third straight perfect inning. He's earned a save in each of those outings while racking up four strikeouts. The Padres' closer is up to 27 saves on the year while posting a 3.63 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 42:12 K:BB across 39.2 innings.

Vasquez allowed two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out one over 4.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Vasquez limited the damage to two runs in the third inning, both of which came on sacrifice flies. It was still an inefficient performance for the right-hander, who threw just 52 of 86 pitches for strikes while walking at least four batters for the fifth time this season. He's fallen short of the five-inning mark twice in his last three starts and has taken nine straight no-decisions, in part due to his inability to pitch deeper into games. Vasquez is at a 3.80 ERA despite a 1.39 WHIP and 50:46 K:BB over 94.2 innings through 19 starts this season. The Padres have games scheduled for 13 straight days coming out of the All-Star break, so Vasquez's spot in the rotation looks safe for the immediate future.

Albies went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Athletics.

Albies put an end to his 36-game homer drought when he took J.T. Ginn deep in the seventh inning. During that span, Albies batted just .188 and slugged a pathetic .233, logging four doubles and one triple with a 12:24 BB:K. The second baseman has struggled overall in 2025, slashing .221/.292/.320 with seven homers, 29 RBI, 38 runs scored, 12 doubles, one triple and seven stolen bases in 92 contests. The decline is a continuation of his 2024 performance, though Albies' prolonged poor hitting has yet to cost him the everyday role at the keystone, where he has maintained steady defense with just two errors this season.
