  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Ends power drought

Albies went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Athletics.

Albies put an end to his 36-game homer drought when he took J.T. Ginn deep in the seventh inning. During that span, Albies batted just .188 and slugged a pathetic .233, logging four doubles and one triple with a 12:24 BB:K. The second baseman has struggled overall in 2025, slashing .221/.292/.320 with seven homers, 29 RBI, 38 runs scored, 12 doubles, one triple and seven stolen bases in 92 contests. The decline is a continuation of his 2024 performance, though Albies' prolonged poor hitting has yet to cost him the everyday role at the keystone, where he has maintained steady defense with just two errors this season.

  • Braves' Jurickson Profar: Goes yard Thursday

Profar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Athletics.

Profar has hit safely in six of eight games since returning from his 80-game PED suspension. In that span, he's lifted three homers while going 8-for-34 (.235) at the plate. As expected, Profar has settled back in as Atlanta's primary left fielder, and he's delivering notable power. He's also struck out nine times since his return, though none of them came Thursday, so it shouldn't be too long until his timing is all the way back.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Strikes out 11 versus A's

Strider allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Thursday.

Strider got off to a shaky start, allowing a three-run home run to Tyler Soderstrom in the first inning. That would be all the damage on Strider's ledger for the game, and he was able to dial up double-digit strikeouts for the second time this season. He's allowed three homers and six total runs over 12.2 innings in July after going five starts without giving up a long ball. The Atlanta ace is at a 3.94 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 74:24 K:BB over 61.2 innings through 11 starts this season, and he's gone at least five innings in eight straight outings. Strider will get some time to rest over the All-Star break before likely taking the mound at home versus the Yankees next week.

  • Cubs' Eli Morgan: Resumes rehab assignment

Morgan (elbow) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Thursday.

Morgan previously kicked off a rehab assignment in mid-June, only to be pulled off the assignment due to a setback. The right-hander has apparently resumed throwing recently without issue, so he'll now restart his assignment in Arizona and will likely eventually move up to Triple-A Iowa before getting activated from the 60-day injured list.

  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Snell: Works two innings in rehab start

Snell (shoulder) completed two shutout innings while allowing one hit and striking out four in a rehab start with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Thursday.

In his first rehab outing as he works his way back from shoulder inflammation, Snell threw 31 pitches (23 strikes). The expectation is that he will require three or four total outings in the minors prior to being activated from the 60-day injured list, so the left-hander appears on track for a return in late July or early August.

  • Austin Hays LF | CHW

Reds' Austin Hays: Plates three in multi-hit game

Hays went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a walk in Thursday's 6-0 win over Miami.

It was Hays' first game with multiple hits and multiple RBI since June 30. Although the 30-year-old outfielder has primarily been a small-side platoon player over the past couple years, he's seeing more action against right-handed pitching in 2025, including Thursday's starter Cal Quantrill. Hays is hitting .366 with one home run, six doubles, three triples and eight RBI over 41 at-bats against left-handed pitching, but he's batting a weaker .248 versus righties in 2025.

  • Spencer Steer 1B | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Keeps raking with solo shot

Steer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 6-0 win over Miami.

Steer crushed his 11th homer of the season and his second of the month of July. Additionally, the 27-year-old first baseman has registered at least one hit in 16 of his last 20 outings. During that span, Steer is hitting a torrid .361 with six long balls, five doubles, 16 RBI and two stolen bases covering 72 at-bats.

  • Bubba Chandler SP | PIT

Pirates' Bubba Chandler: Back on track

Chandler threw six scoreless innings, striking out seven while allowing five hits and two walks with Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday.

Chandler had a turbulent June with Indianapolis, failing to complete more than four innings across five starts with a 12:11 K:BB in the month. However, he's now turned in consecutive scoreless outings to begin July, working a combined 12 frames while posting a 13:4 K:BB. His timeline to reach the majors remains unclear, though the Pirates are likely to deal at least one member of their rotation before the trade deadline, potentially clearing Chandler's path.

  • Lars Nootbaar LF | STL

Cardinals' Lars Nootbaar: Lifted in seventh inning

Nootbaar was removed from Thursday's game against the Nationals in the seventh inning due to a rib cage injury, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The team stated that the move was precautionary, and Nootbaar is expected to be back in the lineup Friday versus Atlanta. While that's encouraging news, it is worth noting that the outfielder nursed a similar issue a couple weeks ago that costed him two games. Nootbaar went 1-for-3 with double and a run before departing Thursday's contest.

  • Michael King SP | SD

Padres' Michael King: Completes bullpen session

King (shoulder) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Thursday, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

King was originally slated to throw a "touch and feel" bullpen session, but the team instead termed it a full session. There hasn't been an exact timeline for his return to San Diego's rotation, but both King and the team have suggested early to mid-August is a realistic target for his activation.
