His average fastball velocity has climbed to 96.7 mph, matching the top speed he reached as a rookie in 2021.

Adams went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's victory over the Astros.

Adams snapped a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning Monday with a solo home run that held up as the game-winner for the Nationals. The catcher has had a rough 2025 campaign, slashing .169/.217/.346 with five doubles, six home runs and 16 RBI over 42 games. Finnegan made quick work of the Astros in the ninth inning, retiring the side to seal a Nationals win Monday. The veteran has allowed multiple runs in four outings but posted zeroes in 29 others. His 4.38 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over 39 innings this season are relatively underwhelming, but Finnegan remains a potential trade candidate for a contending team seeking bullpen depth.

Lord did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing one run on a hit and a walk over 5.1 innings against the Astros. He struck out two.

Lord was highly effective Monday, retiring the first 14 batters he faced before allowing a baserunner with two outs in the fifth inning. The right-hander has bounced between the rotation and bullpen this season but has quietly delivered solid results, recording a 3.27 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 74.2 innings in 37 appearances. His modest strikeout rate (7.4 K/9) could cap his upside and make him a candidate for regression, but he's been dependable and appears poised to make another start in the Nationals' rotation.

Vientos went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in a loss to the Padres on Monday.

It could have actually been a bigger game for Vientos -- he was robbed of a homer by Fernando Tatis in the fourth inning. When Vientos next came to the plate with the bases loaded in the fifth, he ensured Tatis couldn't rob him again, smashing a 385-foot shot to clear the bases. The long ball ended a lengthy power drought for Vientos, whose previous home run had come May 28, a span of 23 games. Vientos now has seven homers over 74 contests this year, well off the pace of the 27 home runs he belted across 111 regular-season games in 2024.

Bogaerts went 3-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI in a 7-6 victory versus the Mets on Monday.

Bogaerts got the Padres on the board with a run-scoring single in the third inning and finished with his fourth multi-hit performance through 11 contests since the All-Star break. The veteran infielder is batting .298 (14-for-47) over that stretch with two homers, six RBI and just four strikeouts. Bogaerts is hitting a healthy .270 with 16 stolen bases on the season, though he hasn't had much of a power stroke with just seven home runs.

Arraez went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in a 7-6 win against the Mets on Monday.

Arraez struck a ball off the right-field foul pole in the fifth inning for San Diego's lone long ball of the game. It was just the sixth homer this season for the contact-focused hitter, whose career high is 10 home runs set over 147 regular-season games with Miami in 2023. Arraez's two knocks Monday extended his hitting streak to 11 games, a span in which he's batting .391 (18-for-46) with just one strikeout.

Montas tossed 4.1 innings in a no-decision against San Diego on Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three batters.

Montas and Padres starter Dylan Cease (head) engaged in a tight battle early, with each pitcher giving up just one run over the first four innings. The Mets got to Cease for four runs in the top of the fifth, but Montas couldn't hold the lead, giving all four runs (two of which scored following his departure) back in the bottom of the frame. The five runs were the second-most the veteran right-hander has given up through six outings this season. Montas looked to be shaking off rust from a late start to the season by giving up just three runs over 10.2 innings across his previous two starts, but his ERA now sits at an unappealing 5.46 on the campaign overall. His next start is scheduled to take place this weekend against San Francisco.

Cease is receiving a CT scan on his head after being hit on a bounce by a comebacker in the third inning of Monday's game against the Mets, Marty Caswell of The Sporting Tribune reports.

Cease ended up on the ground after a ball hit by Francisco Lindor bounced and then struck the hurler on the back of the head in the third frame. The right-hander was checked on by trainers but stayed in the game, and he struck out the next two batters he faced. Cease ultimately departed the contest after 4.2 innings, but his departure seemed to be a result of the grand slam he gave up to the final batter he faced rather than a consequence of the hit to the head. Nonetheless, Cease is getting a CT scan to check for any issues, and the results of the testing should provide insight about whether he's in danger of missing his next start.

Suarez (3-4) blew a save but was credited with the win Monday against the Mets, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one batter over one inning.

Suarez was tasked with protecting a one-run lead in the ninth inning but allowed New York to tie the score on a Ronny Mauricio solo homer. However, the All-Star closer was able to limit New York to that one run and ended up in the win column when the Padres walked it off in the bottom of the frame. It was just the fourth blown save of the season for Suarez, who leads the majors with 30 saves. The long ball was only the second he's given up across 43.2 innings.
