Kiner-Falefa isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

Kiner-Falefa will get a chance to rest his legs after driving in two RBI and scoring during Monday's contest. His absence will allow Liover Peguero to pick up a start at shortstop while batting ninth.

Davis isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus San Francisco.

Davis has gone 0-for-24 at the plate since July 11, and his recent struggles will cause him to give up another start behind the plate to Joey Bart, who will bat eighth Tuesday.

The Brewers announced Tuesday that the goal is for Hoskins (thumb) to begin rehab assignment in late August, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The veteran first baseman landed on the shelf in early July due to a Grade 2 thumb sprain, and his initial return timeline was about 6-to-8 weeks. Hoskins now appears to be trending toward the back end of that timeline, but he could still be activated before the end of August, depending on how long of a rehab stint he requires.

Alvarez isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Alvarez's six-game hitting streak came to an end with his 0-for-2 performance Monday, though he still managed to reach base twice via walks. Luis Torrens will fill in for him behind the dish Tuesday and bat ninth.

Myers is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game at St. Louis.

Myers started the previous four games and will receive a day off after going 2-for-13 with a homer and two stolen bases. Javier Sanoja will take over in center field and bat eighth versus Cardinals righty Sonny Gray.

Stowers (illness) is starting in left field and batting cleanup Sunday against the Cardinals.

The 27-year-old was scratched from the lineup Monday due to an illness, but it's apparently not a serious issue since he's back in the starting nine a day later. Stowers is batting a ridiculous .439 (18-for-41) with four doubles and seven homers in his past 12 games, boosting his OPS for the season to .952.

Maldonado isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

Maldonado will retreat to the bench for the third straight game Tuesday while Elias Diaz starts behind the dish. Neither backstop has been particularly productive at the plate this season, though the Padres may be starting to favor using Diaz as their primary catcher.

The Mets optioned Brazoban to Triple-A Syracuse following Monday night's game.

Brazoban came on in relief of Frankie Montas during the fifth inning of Monday's game against the Padres, inheriting runners on second and third with one out and a 5-3 lead. While he eventually recorded the last two outs of the inning, Brazoban allowed three hits and a walk, which led to the Padres taking the lead with their sixth run of the game. In a corresponding move, the Mets re-signed Chris Devenski to the active roster Tuesday.

The Padres optioned Kolek to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

Kolek will lose his place in San Diego's rotation in favor of Ryan Bergert, who was recalled to start Tuesday's game against the Mets. Kolek has surrendered five earned runs in 11.2 innings across two starts since the All-Star break, but he figures to have a good chance to make another start for the Padres before the end of the season.

The Mets signed Devenski to a one-year major-league contract Tuesday.

Devenski rejoins the Mets after being designated for assignment by them July 22. He had elected free agency Saturday, but the Mets resigned him Tuesday after they optioned Huascar Brazoban to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.
