Cease is receiving a CT scan on his head after being hit on a bounce by a comebacker in the third inning of Monday's game against the Mets, Marty Caswell of The Sporting Tribune reports.

Cease ended up on the ground after a ball hit by Francisco Lindor bounced and then struck the hurler on the back of the head in the third frame. The right-hander was checked on by trainers but stayed in the game, and he struck out the next two batters he faced. Cease ultimately departed the contest after 4.2 innings, but his departure seemed to be a result of the grand slam he gave up to the final batter he faced rather than a consequence of the hit to the head. Nonetheless, Cease is getting a CT scan to check for any issues, and the results of the testing should provide insight about whether he's in danger of missing his next start.

Suarez (3-4) blew a save but was credited with the win Monday against the Mets, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one batter over one inning.

Suarez was tasked with protecting a one-run lead in the ninth inning but allowed New York to tie the score on a Ronny Mauricio solo homer. However, the All-Star closer was able to limit New York to that one run and ended up in the win column when the Padres walked it off in the bottom of the frame. It was just the fourth blown save of the season for Suarez, who leads the majors with 30 saves. The long ball was only the second he's given up across 43.2 innings.

Cease allowed five runs on five hits and five walks with nine strikeouts over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Monday.

As usual, Cease looked dominant at times, racking up 13 whiffs and nine punchouts despite completing less than five innings. However, the righty couldn't sustain a strong opening four frames -- he loaded the bases in the fifth and then gave up a two-out grand slam to Mark Vientos. This was the third time in Cease's past five starts that he's surrendered four or more earned runs, and his ERA sits at a below-average 4.79 on the season. He ranks fourth in the majors with 153 strikeouts but has also posted a 3.57 BB/9, seventh-highest among qualified pitchers.

Adames went 3-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBI in Monday's loss to the Pirates.

Adames helped San Francisco come back from an early deficit, knocking a run-scoring single in the second inning and tying the score with another RBI single in the fourth. The veteran shortstop notched his second straight multi-hit game, achieving that feat for the first time this season. Adames has begun the second half of the season well, batting .395 (15-for-38) with three homers, 10 runs, eight RBI and a 5:7 BB:K through 10 contests.

McCutchen went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Monday in a 6-5 win over the Giants.

McCutchen's lone hit was a huge one -- he banged a two-run homer to left field in the seventh inning to break a 4-4 tie. The knock was his first hit over his past three games, a span in which the veteran slugger has gone 1-for-14. McCutchen now has 10 home runs on the campaign, a mark he's reached in every one of his 17 big-league seasons.

Whisenhunt completed five innings in a no-decision against Pittsburgh on Monday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three batters.

Whisenhunt retired the first two batters he faced before Nick Gonzales tagged him for a solo homer in the first inning. The rookie left-hander gave up three more runs in the second, but he was able to settle down and retire 10 of the final 12 batters he faced to end his outing with three scoreless frames. The strong finish could be enough to earn Whisenhunt another start for a San Francisco rotation short on healthy arms. If he does get another turn, Whisenhunt is tentatively lined up to face the Mets in New York this weekend.

Freeman went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored in Monday's 8-6 win over the Guardians.

Freeman drove in runs in the third and fifth innings before delivering what proved to be the game-winning single in the ninth. It was an encouraging showing for the 26-year-old, who came into Monday mired in a 2-for-19 slump over the Rockies' previous two series. On the season, he's slashing .306/.387/.404 with one homer, 19 RBI, 27 runs scored and 12 steals across 225 plate appearances.

Bednar earned a save against the Giants on Monday, allowing one run on three hits over one inning.

Bednar inherited a two-run lead when he entered in the ninth frame and just barely managed to hold on for the save. San Francisco put three of the first four batters on base against the closer, but Bednar got Mike Yastrzemski to pop out and Patrick Bailey to ground out to end the contest with just one run on his ledger. That was the first earned run the right-hander has allowed over his past 23 outings -- a dominant stretch in which he racked up 12 saves and posted a 29:5 K:BB across 22.1 innings. Bednar did throw 32 pitches Monday and has appeared three times in the past four days, so it wouldn't be surprising if he's deemed unavailable for Tuesday's contest.

Goodman went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBI in Monday's 8-6 win over the Guardians.

Goodman helped spark a late comeback, launching a solo homer in the eighth inning and following with an RBI double during a four-run ninth. The All-Star has remained locked in since the break, tallying four multi-hit efforts with four extra-base hits, seven RBI and four runs over eight contests. On the season, he's slashing .282/.327/.523 with 19 homers, 59 RBI, 50 runs scored and one steal across 379 plate appearances.

Keller allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three batters over two innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on Monday.

It was a slog from the start for Keller, who allowed three baserunners and one run in the first inning. The Giants tagged him for two more runs in the second, though Keller at least managed to avoid a disastrous frame by striking out two batters with the bases loaded. However, the right-hander finished that inning at 73 pitches -- just 42 of which were strikes -- and didn't return for the third. This was Keller's shortest outing of the campaign and the first time in 20 starts that he's failed to complete five frames. Pittsburgh was able to pull out the win, however, so Keller remains without a loss on his record since June 21.
