Brewers' Sal Frelick: Removed with sore knee

Frelick was removed from Saturday's game against the Nationals due to left knee soreness.

The Brewers are labeling Frelick's removal as precautionary, which could signal that his injury is relatively minor. If the 25-year-old ends up having to miss any amount of time, Brandon Lockridge would be the likely choice to pick up starts in right field.

  • Caleb Durbin 3B | BOS

Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Getting Saturday off

Durbin isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.

Durbin will catch a breather Saturday after going 3-for-6 with two runs scored during Friday's high-scoring victory. Anthony Seigler will replace him at the hot corner and bat eighth.

  • TJ Friedl CF | CIN

Reds' TJ Friedl: Activated from restricted list

The Reds reinstated Friedl (personal) from the restricted list Saturday.

Friedl moved to the restricted list Friday to allow him extra time to report to the club after going on paternity leave. Now back with the Reds, he'll serve as the 27th man for the Speedway Classic against Atlanta, but there is little chance he ends up as the player headed back to Triple-A following Saturday's game.

  • Reds' Lyon Richardson: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Reds optioned Richardson to Triple-A Louisville following Friday's game against Atlanta.

Richardson will cede his spot on the 26-man active roster to right-hander Zack Littell, whom Cincinnati acquired from Tampa Bay prior to Thursday's trade deadline. Richardson has spent most of the season in the majors and has a 4.15 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 27:19 K:BB across 34.2 innings this season out of the bullpen.

  • Connor Joe RF | SEA

Reds' Connor Joe: Sent down to Triple-A

The Reds optioned Joe to Triple-A Louisville following Friday's game against Atlanta.

The move makes room on the 26-man roster for Miguel Andujar, who was acquired by the Reds from the Athletics on Thursday. Joe has appeared in 35 games for the Reds since being traded by the Padres in early May and has slashed .213/.286/.279 with two steals and four RBI in 70 plate appearances. He should have an everyday role in the outfield in Triple-A.

  • Tyler Stuart SP | WAS

Nationals' Tyler Stuart: Undergoes TJ surgery

Stuart underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this week, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Stuart landed on the 60-day injured list July 14, and further tests on his right elbow revealed UCL damage that required Tommy John surgery. Stuart will miss the rest of the 2025 season, and given the recovery timeline for Tommy John surgery, he'll be out for most, if not all, of 2026.

  • Luis Matos RF | MIL

Giants' Luis Matos: Not in Saturday's lineup

Matos is absent from Saturday's starting lineup against the Mets.

Matos will be on the bench to begin Saturday's game while Grant McCray starts in right field and bats ninth. Matos is off to a slow start at the dish since the All-Star break, having gone 3-for-20 (.150) with one RBI over eight games.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Resting Saturday

Bailey is not in the Giants' starting lineup against the Mets on Saturday.

Bailey will get a breather after going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Friday's extra-inning win over the Mets. Andrew Knizner will serve behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Not in Saturday's lineup

Flores (hamstring) is not in the Giants' starting lineup against the Mets on Saturday.

Flores was removed from Friday's game after injuring his hamstring while running to first base in the eighth inning. He'll be out of action for Saturday's contest, with Rafael Devers serving as the designated hitter and Dominic Smith starting at first base.

  • Pirates' Thomas Harrington: Sent back to Triple-A

The Pirates optioned Harrington to Triple-A Indianapolis following Friday's game against the Rockies.

Harrington was called up Friday to give the Pirates depth out of the bullpen, but he was rocked for six runs on seven hits and two walks in just two-thirds of an inning. His spot on the 26-man roster will be filled by Dauri Moreta, who was recalled by the Pirates on Saturday.
