  • Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Big game in win

Alexander went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a hit-by-pitch and four RBI in Friday's 6-1 win over the Rockies.

Alexander opened the scoring with a three-run double in the first inning before adding a solo shot in the fourth. He's taken over as Arizona's starting third baseman since Eugenio Suarez was traded to Seattle. The increase in playing time has worked well -- Alexander is 8-for-25 (.320) with four extra-base hits over seven games in August. For the season, he's at a .240/.329/.400 slash line with two homers, 10 RBI, 10 runs scored and two stolen bases through 87 plate appearances.

  • Zac Gallen SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Collects ninth win

Gallen (9-12) allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings to earn the win over the Rockies on Friday.

Gallen has covered at least six innings in six of his last seven starts, earning wins in all four of his quality starts in that span. He limited the damage to a Kyle Karros RBI single in the second inning of this contest, though the Diamondbacks' lead was never in danger. Gallen is now at a 5.31 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 130:50 K:BB through 139 innings across 24 starts this season. The veteran right-hander's next outing is projected to be on the road versus the Rangers.

  • Brandon Marsh LF | PHI

Phillies' Brandon Marsh: Goes yard in four-hit attack

Marsh went 4-for-5 with a double and a solo home run in Friday's 9-1 win over Texas.

Marsh is beginning to sizzle at the plate -- he's now picked up multiple hits in six of his last 11 outings following his first four-hit game of the year Friday. Since returning from the injured list back in early May, the outfielder has been very productive in the lower part of Philadelphia's lineup while playing his strong-side platoon role. Marsh is slashing .314/.371/.486 with six homers, 22 RBI, 36 runs scored and five stolen bases over his last 234 plate appearances (75 games).

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Fills box score in rout

Turner went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, five RBI, two walks and a stolen base in Friday's 9-1 win over Texas.

Turner established a season high in RBI, and he belted his 12th long ball of the season. The star shortstop has tallied multiple RBI on just two occasions since the start of July, and he's been rather quiet at the dish recently by his lofty standards. Across his last 30 outings, Turner is slashing .262/.331/.381 with 11 extra-base hits, 12 RBI, 16 runs scored and six steals covering 139 plate appearances.

  • Trevor Megill RP | MIL

Brewers' Trevor Megill: Hangs on for save Friday

Megill picked up the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Mets, allowing two hits and no walks with no strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning.

Megill yielded multiple knocks for the first time since his June 29 outing versus Colorado, but Blake Perkins was able to bail out the closer by throwing out Starling Marte at the plate for the final out of Friday's game. Although he served up a homer his last time out, Megill has converted each of his last nine save opportunities. During this span, the hard-throwing right-hander has a sparkling 0.87 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 12:1 K:BB covering 10.1 innings.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Goes deep in multi-hit game

Marte went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to Milwaukee.

The veteran outfielder clobbered his first homer since coming off the injured list in late July and his fifth of the year overall, but he missed a chance at some heroics when he was thrown out at the plate trying to score from second base on a Jeff McNeil single for the game's final out. Marte continues to play a part-time role alongside Mark Vientos at designated hitter, and since the beginning of July he's hitting .349 (15-for-43) with a homer, five doubles, four runs, three RBI and one stolen base.

  • Brewers' Logan Henderson: Diagnosed with flexor strain

Henderson (elbow), who was placed on the injured list earlier Friday, has been diagnosed with a right flexor strain, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Although the injury is significant enough to cause Henderson to miss his next turn through the rotation and land on the shelf, imaging revealed that the right-hander didn't suffer any damage to his UCL. Manager Pat Murphy said the diagnosis was better than what the team was expecting, adding that he doesn't expect the 23-year-old to be out for an extended period of time. Tobias Myers was recalled from Triple-A Nashville and will start Saturday's contest in place of Henderson, though that spot in the rotation will eventually fall to Jacob Misiorowski (tibia), who could return from the IL next week.

  • Marlins' Heriberto Hernandez: Homers again, extends power surge

Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and an additional run scored in Friday's 5-1 win against Atlanta.

Hernandez continued his recent power surge Friday, turning a 91 mph sinker from Bryce Elder into a 404-foot homer. The long ball was his seventh of the year and fourth in his last 10 games. During that stretch, the 25-year-old is hitting .273 (9-for-33) with nine RBI and eight runs scored, providing a spark for this Miami offense.

  • Bryce Elder SP | ATL

Braves' Bryce Elder: Takes third straight loss

Elder (4-9) took the loss against Miami on Friday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over six innings.

Elder was under pressure for most of the outing, frequently working with runners on base, and Miami took advantage by scoring in three straight frames. Heriberto Hernandez launched a two-run homer against Elder in the fifth inning. The right-hander has struggled mightily since the All-Star break, posting an 8.69 ERA with six losses and eight home runs allowed over 39.1 innings in eight starts. He's lined up to face the Mets on the road in his next outing.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Likely out until September

Edman (ankle) will likely remain on the injured list until September, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Edman landed on the injured list Monday with a right ankle sprain, and the Dodgers are going to play it safe by keeping him on the shelf for an extended period of time. The team wants to give him all the time he needs to make a full recovery to ensure he's at 100 percent for the postseason. With Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) also on the IL, Miguel Rojas and Alex Freeland have been seeing time at the keystone for Los Angeles.
