The White Sox placed Perez on the 15-day injured list Friday with a left shoulder strain.

Perez was forced to depart his last start against the Orioles in the fourth inning with the injury, and it will officially end his season. The veteran left-hander was limited to only 56 frames this season due to elbow and shoulder issues, but he fared pretty well when on the bump, posting a 3.54 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 44:22 K:BB. Perez will be a free agent this offseason.

The Orioles placed McDermott on the family medical emergency list Friday.

By rule, McDermott will be away from the club for 3-to-7 days. The right-hander was just recalled earlier this week and has been roughed up for eight runs over one inning covering two appearances.

The Orioles recalled Espada from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

Espada holds a 4.17 ERA and 83:30 K:BB over 54 innings between the Double- and Triple-A levels this season. When the 28-year-old gets into a game, it will be his first appearance at the major-league level since 2023.

The Astros will reinstate Paredes (hamstring) from the 60-day injured list ahead of Friday's game against the Mariners, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Paredes strained his hamstring in mid-July, but bypassed surgery in hopes of returning late in the 2025 season. The decision will pay off Friday, as he's slated to come off the injured list in time for a three-game set against the Mariners, who are tied with Houston atop the AL West. Paredes will be used as a designated hitter once reinstated, and he may be asked to run less than full speed on the basepaths. Still, it's a significant boost to the Astros' lineup. He slashed .259/.359/.470 with 19 home runs, 51 runs and 50 RBI in 409 plate appearances before sustaining the injury.

Diaw missed the final month of the season for High-A Cedar Rapids due to a hamstring strain, Jeff Johnson of The Gazette reports.

Diaw was excellent when he played (161 wRC+), but injuries have limited his availability dating back to college. He dealt with a back fracture, broken left thumb, and a sprained writst while at Loyola Marymount University, and he missed June and July of this year due to another broken thumb. An athletic catcher with upside on both sides of the ball, Diaw slashed .297/.450/.445 with four home runs, four steals, an 11.8 percent walk rate and a 17.8 percent strikeout rate in 42 games, primarily for the Kernels. He'll likely spend most of his age-22 season at Double-A, where staying healthy will be paramount, as Diaw has been limited to 66 games since getting drafted in the third round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.

Rodriguez-Cruz will be promoted from Double-A Somerset to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Rodriguez-Cruz earned the late-season promotion after posting a 2.42 ERA and 173:57 K:BB over 145 innings between High-A Hudson Valley and Somerset. Acquired from the Red Sox last offseason in the Carlos Narvaez trade, Rodriguez-Cruz leads all minor leaguers with his 173 strikeouts.

Torkelson went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Guardians.

Torkelson was the only Detroit player with multiple hits in the contest and he scored the team's lone run. The first baseman has been in a nice groove lately, as he's batting .375 over his last eight games. Overall, Torkelson is slashing .242/.335/.460, and he's mashed 29 home runs to go along with 74 RBI and 80 runs scored in what's been a bounceback campaign after a down 2024.

Melton (3-2) allowed two runs on two hits across 1.2 innings of relief to take the loss Thursday against the Guardians. He walked one and struck out one.

Melton relieved starter Tarik Skubal, who left after six innings with the game tied 1-1, and promptly allowed two runs to take the loss. This was the rookie's first loss in a relief appearance, as his other loss came in his MLB debut back on July 23, when he allowed six runs in five innings as a starter. As a reliever, Melton now has a 2.66 ERA across 23.2 innings in 11 outings, and he's struck out 17 batters. He should maintain a key role in Detroit's bullpen given his ability to provide length.

Lowe went 1-for-3 in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Atheltics.

Lowe has hit the skids after a productive start to his Red Sox tenure. He sported a .974 OPS with two home runs and eight RBI over his first 12 games in a Boston uniform, but Lowe has languished since then with a .576 OPS and just two RBI in the subsequent 13 contests.

Story went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Athletics.

Story continued to show a productive September bat, logging a fourth consecutive multi-hit effort and upping his OPS to 1.023 for the month. Unfortunately for the Red Sox, the normally sure-handed defender committed two errors that contributed to two unearned runs. The home run gave him 25 for the season to go along with 93 RBI and 31 steals.
