Ryan Bergert SP | KC
Royals' Ryan Bergert: Strong beginning with new team
Bergert (2-1) notched the win Wednesday against the White Sox, allowing one run on six hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out three.
Bergert continues to be an effective starter with the Royals, having now pitched at least five innings while conceding two runs or fewer in five consecutive starts for his new team. The rookie right-hander also fired a season-high six frames Wednesday. With Cole Ragans (shoulder) yet to go on a rehab assignment, Bergert should be locked in for at least another handful of turns in Kansas City's rotation. He holds a promising 2.67 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 59:26 K:BB across 64 innings in 2025, and Bergert is tentatively scheduled to face the Angels early next week.

Jack Kochanowicz SP | LAA
Angels' Jack Kochanowicz: Rocked by Rangers
Kochanowicz (3-11) took the loss Wednesday against Texas, allowing 11 runs (10 earned) on nine hits and three walks with one strikeout across 3.1 innings.
Kochanowicz had the worst start of his young career, giving up a career-worst three home runs in just 3.1 innings. The three long balls accounted for eight of the 11 runs Kochanowicz yielded, with Adolis Garcia and Joc Pederson swatting three-run homers and Corey Seager hitting a two-run shot. Kochanowicz hadn't allowed more than eight runs in an appearance at any level since starting his professional career in 2021. There is an opportunity for Kochanowicz to make another trip through the Angels' rotation while Victor Mederos is on the shelf, though the organization could look elsewhere after Wednesday's shelling further inflated his ERA to 6.81. Kochanowicz will likely face the Royals in Kansas City if he remains in the rotation.

Jacob Latz RP | TEX
Rangers' Jacob Latz: Solid as starter
Latz didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Los Angeles, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk with five strikeouts across 4.1 innings.
The Rangers selected Latz to fill Nathan Eovaldi's (shoulder) spot in the rotation, and Latz fared well in the position. He threw just 66 pitches, up from the 43 pitches he threw in his previous appearance, and managed to pitch into the fifth frame. In four starts this season, Latz has a 3.38 ERA and a 19:8 K:BB across 18.2 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to make his next start against the Diamondbacks early next week and could continue building up his workload.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Another multi-hit performance
Seager went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run and two additional runs scored during Wednesday's 20-3 win over the Angels.
Seager saw only three plate appearances before being lifted in favor of Ezequiel Duran to get some rest during the blowout. Still, the shortstop made his presence felt, delivering a two-run homer and posting his second three-run game of the campaign. Seager has five multi-hit performances in his last 11 games, going 16-for-40 (.400) with four home runs, 11 runs scored and a 5:7 BB:K during that stretch.

Higashioka went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run, an RBI single and a sacrifice fly during Wednesday's 20-3 win over the Angels.
Higashioka delivered his third five-RBI game of the season Wednesday and belted a home run for a second consecutive game. The catcher's three-run homer off position player Oswald Peraza was part of an eight-run seventh inning. Higashioka now has 10 long balls in 2025, reaching double-digits in the category for a fifth consecutive season.

Adolis Garcia RF | TEX
Rangers' Adolis Garcia: Three XBH against Halos
Garcia went 4-for-6 with two doubles, a home run, five RBI and three runs during Wednesday's 20-3 win over the Angels.
Garcia was the heart of Texas' 20-run outburst Wednesday, tying for the team high in RBI and taking a solo lead in hits. The outfielder notched his third game of the season with multiple doubles and his second contest of the campaign with three extra-base hits. Garcia hasn't needed any time to reacclimate after being reinstated from the injured list Saturday, going 9-for-20 (.450) with four doubles, two homers and three stolen bases since.

Joc Pederson DH | TEX
Rangers' Joc Pederson: Stays hot in blowout
Pederson went 2-for-6 with a three-run home run, two additional RBI and two additional runs scored during Wednesday's 20-3 win over the Angels.
Pederson lifted his fifth home run of August with a three-run blast off Jack Kochanowicz in the second inning and extended his hit streak to seven games. The 33-year-old slugger set season highs in runs scored and RBI during the offensive outburst. His previous best RBI total was two. During his hit streak, Pederson has gone 9-for-28 (.321) with nine RBI and five runs scored.

Framber Valdez SP | HOU
Astros' Framber Valdez: Shuts down Rockies
Valdez (12-7) picked up the win Wednesday against Colorado, allowing three hits and two walks with five strikeouts over seven scoreless innings.
Valdez was in dire need of a get-right start, having surrendered 21 runs (19 earned) with a 12:10 K:BB across his past four starts (23.1 innings), and he responded with one of his best performances of the season. Wednesday's outing marked his first shutout start since June 29 and ended a run of five straight winless outings. The 31-year-old left-hander will look to carry some momentum into his next start, which is slated to come against the Yankees next week.

Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU
Astros' Yordan Alvarez: First homer since IL stint
Alvarez went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 4-0 win over Colorado.
Alvarez was activated from the injured list ahead of Tuesday's series opener and went hitless with two walks in four plate appearances in his return. He walked twice more Wednesday and delivered his first hit since coming back by launching a two-run home run off Angel Chivilli in the fourth inning. Alvarez slashed .210/.306/.340 with three home runs across 121 plate appearances before being placed on the injured list back in May.

Cam Smith RF | HOU
Astros' Cam Smith: Breaks homer drought
Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Rockies.
Smith has struggled at the plate recently, entering Wednesday's contest hitless with eight strikeouts in his last 16 at-bats. While the 22-year-old only notched one hit Wednesday, the long ball was Smith's first in 171 plate appearances, a streak that dated back to June 29. Smith is slashing .242/.311/.364 with eight home runs in 437 plate appearances this season.
