J.J. Bleday LF | CIN
Athletics' JJ Bleday: Getting breather against LHP
Bleday isn't in Oakland's lineup Thursday against the Angels.
With southpaw Kenny Rosenberg slated to start Thursday's game for the Halos, the left-handed bat of Bleday will stay put in Oakland's dugout. Daz Cameron will fill the void in center field and bat seventh.

Abraham Toro 1B | BOS
Athletics' Abraham Toro: Idle Thursday
Toro isn't in the Athletics' lineup for Thursday's game versus the Angels.
The switch-hitting Toro boasts a .783 OPS in 73 plate appearances against left-handers this season, but he will take a seat Thursday with southpaw Kenny Rosenberg on the mound. While Toro rests, Brett Harris will field the hot corner and bat eighth.

Seth Brown LF | ATH
Athletics' Seth Brown: Sitting against lefty
Brown isn't in Oakland's lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.
With lefty Kenny Rosenberg slated to start on the bump for Los Angeles, the lefty-hitting Brown will begin Thursday's contest on the bench. Tyler Nevin will instead get the nod to start at first base and bat fifth.
-
Jo Adell RF | CLE
Angels' Jo Adell: Idle Thursday
Adell isn't in the Angels' lineup Thursday against the Athletics, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Adell will get a day to regroup Thursday after going 1-for-10 with an RBI and five strikeouts during the Halos' three-game series against Seattle. Kevin Pillar will get the starting nod in right field instead and bat fifth.

Brandon Drury 2B | KC
Angels' Brandon Drury: Sitting Thursday
Drury isn't in the Angels' lineup for Thursday's game versus Oakland, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Drury will get a day off Thursday after going 2-for-4 with an RBI during Wednesday's win over Seattle. While he sits, Luis Rengifo will shift to second base while Anthony Rendon starts at the hot corner and Willie Calhoun acts as the DH.

Ross Stripling SP | KC
Athletics' Ross Stripling: Activated ahead of start
The Athletics activated Stripling (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to start against the Angels on Thursday.
Stripling will rejoin the rotation Thursday in Anaheim after missing two months with a flexor strain. He had a maximum pitch count of 56 in his three rehab outings, so the veteran right-hander will be limited from a workload standpoint versus the Halos.

Mason Miller RP | SD
Athletics' Mason Miller: Fractures non-throwing hand
The Athletics placed Miller on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a fractured pinkie on his left hand, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Gallegos says Miller suffered the injury when he placed his hand down awkwardly on the training table while getting ready to do an exercise. It's not clear how long Miller might be sidelined, but it helps that the fracture is to his non-throwing hand. The injury could also lessen, if not eliminate, the possibility of Miller being dealt at the trade deadline. Lucas Erceg is the favorite to see save opportunities for the Athletics while Miller is out.

Drew Rasmussen SP | TB
Rays' Drew Rasmussen: Throwing heat on rehab assignment
Rasmussen (elbow) gave up one hit and struck out a batter over a scoreless inning during his rehab appearance Wednesday with Triple-A Durham.
Rasmussen has tossed a pair of scoreless frames over his first two rehab outings with Durham and doesn't seem to be showing any signs of rust as he makes his way back from the internal brace procedure he underwent on his right elbow in July of 2023. Not only has he yet to issue a walk, but he's also been flashing premium velocity on his rehab assignment; six of his 16 pitches Wednesday clocked in at over 96 miles per hour, and he maxed out at 98.3 mph. Though the Rays envision Rasmussen slotting back into the rotation in 2025, he'll be joining the big club as a reliever this season once he's activated from the 60-day injured list.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Not expected back this weekend
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday he's not expecting Stanton (hamstring) to return to action for the team's series versus Boston this weekend, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Stanton continued to do work on the field Wednesday, and Boone said he thinks the slugger is "towards the end of" his rehab. However, while the manager didn't rule out Stanton being activated at some point this weekend to face the Red Sox, he also indicated that such a scenario is not an expectation. It doesn't appear that Stanton has experienced a setback, so he seems likely to return to action next week if he remains out for the Boston series.

Bowden Francis RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Bowden Francis: Likely to start during doubleheader
Francis is likely to be called up from Triple-A Buffalo to start one game of Monday's doubleheader versus the Orioles, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Yariel Rodriguez is tentatively lined up to pitch the other game Monday. Francis has tossed nine scoreless innings with a 13:1 K:BB in two starts since being optioned to Buffalo on July 14 and would be available on four days' rest Monday. Francis has been less effective during his time in the majors this season with a 5.82 ERA covering three starts and 13 relief outings.
