His RBI double in the first inning was his 25th of the season, making it his fifth season with 25 doubles and 25 home runs, which is tied for fourth most in franchise history. Slaten (elbow) has been cleared to throw up to 120 feet, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Slaten has been progressing through a throwing program after landing on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation July 12. He's yet to gain clearance for mound work but could get approval to do so shortly if all continues to go well in his rehab.

  • Brooks Lee 3B | MIN

Twins' Brooks Lee: Dealing with shoulder soreness

Lee is dealing with right shoulder soreness, leading to his absence from the lineup for a second straight day Monday against the Cubs, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Lee was on the bench for Sunday's series finale with the White Sox and he'll sit Monday as well, which is now understood to be the result of some lingering shoulder soreness. On the bright side, manager Rocco Baldelli said Monday that Lee could have started the series opener versus the Cubs, so he'll likely be back in action soon.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Takes batting practice

Wilson (hamstring) took batting practice Monday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Wilson has been progressing well in his recovery from a strained left hamstring and participated in batting practice for the first time since being placed on the IL on July 21. Still, the Athletics are taking it slow with the 22-year-old, who isn't expected back for multiple weeks.

  • Tyler O'Neill RF | BAL

Red Sox's Tyler O'Neill: Likely won't start until Wednesday

Manager Alex Cora said that O'Neill (illness) will be available off the bench Monday against the Royals but likely won't be back in the lineup until Wednesday's series finale, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

O'Neill has been held out of the lineup for three consecutive games as he tends to a stomach virus. However, his health appears to be improving and he could be back in the lineup as soon as Wednesday. O'Neill has the sixth most home runs (22) among outfielders this season.

  • Mason Miller RP | SD

    Athletics' Mason Miller: Faces hitters

Miller (finger) threw a live bullpen session Monday, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

Miller is dealing with a fractured finger on his non-throwing hand and continued to throw bullpen sessions while he had a cast on. He played catch for the first time without the cast Saturday and has already advanced to facing batters. The standout 25-year-old becomes eligible to return Friday, though it's unclear if he'll need to miss additional time.

Twins' Josh Winder: Up with big club

The Twins recalled Winder from Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.

Winder will take Steven Okert's spot in the big-league bullpen for an undetermined amount of time as Okert tends to personal issues. Winder has made only one appearance with Minnesota this season, allowing three runs across two innings. The 27-year-old hasn't fared much better with St. Paul, posting a 6.35 ERA in 34.0 innings.

The Twins placed Okert (personal) on the bereavement list Monday.

Okert will be away from the team for up to seven days as he tends to personal issues. In his stead, Josh Winder was called up from Triple-A St. Paul to serve out of the bullpen. Okert has a 4.45 ERA in 30.1 innings with the Twins this season.
