  • Kyle Isbel CF | KC

Royals' Kyle Isbel: Taking seat Tuesday

Isbel is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.

The lefty-hitting Isbell will dodge a matchup with southpaw Tyler Anderson on Tuesday. In his place, Garrett Hampson will bat ninth and play center field.

  • MJ Melendez DH | NYM

Royals' MJ Melendez: Idle against southpaw

Melendez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels.

As per usual, Melendez will head to the bench against a left-handed pitcher (Tyler Anderson). Dairon Blanco, Garrett Hampson and Hunter Renfroe fill the outfield from left to right.

  • Lane Thomas LF | ATL

Guardians' Lane Thomas: Sitting amid slump

Thomas is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

Thomas went 3-for-8 with two doubles and three runs in his first two games after being acquired by the Guardians at the trade deadline, but over the past 14 contests he's gone 3-for-45 with a 39.2 percent strikeout rate. Daniel Schneemann is starting in center field Tuesday against New York righty Luis Gil.

  • Keegan Akin RP | BAL

Orioles' Keegan Akin: Headed to paternity list

The Orioles placed Akin on the paternity list Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Akin has served as a multi-inning reliver since joining the Orioles active roster Aug. 7, yielding four runs with a 11:0 K:BB across 7.1 innings during that stretch. He'll be away from the team temporarily to be present for the birth of his child. A corresponding move has yet to be announced.

  • Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: On bench Tuesday

Cabrera is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Cleveland.

Cabrera started at third base in three of the first four games after Jazz Chisholm (elbow) hit the injured list Aug. 14, but he's yielded to Oswald Peraza at the hot corner in back-to-back contests -- both against a left-handed starting pitcher. Cabrera is slashing .251/.296/.376 with eight home runs in 285 plate appearances this season.

  • Ben Rice DH | NYY

Yankees' Ben Rice: Not facing LHP

Rice is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Guardians.

Rice will dodge a same-hand matchup with lefty Matthew Boyd on Tuesday, giving way to DJ LeMahieu at first base. Rice has one hit in 19 at-bats during August but has almost the same number of walks (four) as strikeouts (five) and has scored four runs.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Idle against southpaw

Wells is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Cleveland.

The lefty-hitting Wells will yield to Jose Trevino behind the dish Tuesday against Matthew Boyd and the Guardians. Wells has been on the bench in three of the Yankees' four games since Trevino was activated from the IL, with two of those absences coming against a left-hander.

  • Ernie Clement 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Taking seat Tuesday

Clement is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Clement is absent from the starting nine for the first time in 28 games for what's likely a maintenance day. The infielder has been seeing the ball well this month, going 18-for-65 (.277) with a pair of homers, three stolen bases and a 10.3 percent K rate.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Back in lineup

Jimenez is batting eighth and playing shortstop Tuesday against the Reds.

Jimenez missed back-to-back games with a knee injury, but he'll be back in action Tuesday night. In August, Jimenez is slashing .216/.318/.514 with two homers and five doubles across 13 games.

  • Rangers' Daniel Robert: Hits shelf at Triple-A

Triple-A Round Rock placed Robert on its 7-day injured list Aug. 7 with an unspecified injury.

After the Rangers optioned him to Round Rock on July 21, Robert made just one appearance for the Triple-A club before being shut down with the injury. The 29-year-old right-hander has been a standout performer at the back end of the Round Rock bullpen this season, logging a 2.27 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 41:8 K:BB in 31.2 innings.
