  • Jacob Amaya SS | ARI

White Sox's Jacob Amaya: Exits contest with hip injury

Amaya was removed from Monday's Cactus League game against the Athletics due to left hip tightness.

  • Michael Arroyo 2B | SEA

Mariners' Michael Arroyo: Cut from big-league camp

The Mariners reassigned Arroyo to minor-league camp Monday.

Arroyo saw action in nine Cactus League games this spring, going 2-for-11 at the dish, but the top prospect was always destined to return to the minors to start the 2025 campaign. A 20-year-old infielder, Arroyo slashed .285/.400/.509 with 23 homers and 18 stolen bases between Single-A Modesto and High-A Everett in 2024. He could moved up to Double-A Arkansas in 2025.

  • Cody Bolton RP | HOU

Mariners' Cody Bolton: Sent out of majors camp

The Mariners optioned Bolton to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Bolton has allowed just one unearned run over 3.2 Cactus League innings but also has a 2:3 K:BB over that stretch. He'll start the season at Tacoma as relief depth.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Missed time won't hurt SS chances

White Sox manager Will Venable said Monday that the time Montgomery missed with a back injury will not hurt his chances of making the Opening Day roster, Daryl Van Schuowen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Montgomery missed 10 days of action before returning to the lineup Sunday. The 23-year-old has accrued only nine plate appearances so far during Cactus League play, but Venable suggests Montgomery could still win the team's shortstop job, saying of the youngster that "there's been a lot of stuff here that we've evaluated," and the "most important thing is just that he's healthy." Brooks Baldwin, Chase Meidroth and Jacob Amaya are competing with Montgomery for the shortstop gig.

  • Trevor Rogers SP | BAL

Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Remains limited to flat-ground work

Rogers (knee) remains limited to flat-ground work but hopes to throw off a mound before the end of spring training, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Rogers is recovering from a right knee subluxation, which he suffered in January. The left-hander has been able to continue throwing since the injury, so his ramp-up might not take terribly long. However, Rogers will not be part of the Orioles' Opening Day roster, instead being assigned to the Triple-A Norfolk rotation once he's physically ready.

  • Royals' Junior Fernandez: Cut from big-league camp

The Royals reassigned Fernandez to minor-league camp Monday.

Fernandez was among the six Royals who were sent to minor-league camp Monday in the latest round of roster cuts. The 28-year-old reliever made 50 appearances at the big-league level between stops with the Cardinals and Pirates from 2019 through 2022, but he spent the entire 2023 season in the minors before linking up with the Chiba Lotte Marines of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball in 2024. Now back stateside with the Royals organization, Fernandez is likely to serve as depth arm at Triple-A Omaha for much of the 2025 campaign.

  • Terrin Vavra 2B | BAL

Orioles' Terrin Vavra: Moves to minor-league camp

The Orioles reassigned Vavra to minor-league camp Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Vavra appeared in 67 games at the big-league level with Baltimore between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, but the 27-year-old infielder looks far away from re-emerging as a contributor in the majors. He struggled to stay healthy in 2024 and was unproductive at the dish during his time in the minors, slashing .236/.333/.345 over 266 plate appearances with four affiliates between the Mariners and Orioles organizations. Vavra is likely to open the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Norfolk.

  • Dylan Coleman RP | NYY

Orioles' Dylan Coleman: Sent to minor-league camp

The Orioles reassigned Coleman to minor-league camp Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Coleman has seen big-league action in each of the past four seasons, accruing a 3.84 ERA and 1.37 WHIP across 93.2 innings between stops with the Royals and Astros. The right-hander made all but one of his 37 appearances at the Triple-A level as a member of the Houston organization in 2024 and will likely spend the majority of the 2025 campaign with the Orioles' top affiliate in Norfolk.

  • Orioles' Franklin Barreto: Opening season in minors

The Orioles reassigned Barreto to minor-league camp Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Barreto hasn't seen major-league action since 2020 and will likely serve as organizational depth in the upper levels of the minors for the Orioles throughout the 2025 season. The 29-year-old spent the 2024 season in the Mexican League with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, slashing .343/.430/.576 with 16 home runs and eight stolen bases over 76 games.
