Williams gave up three runs on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Tigers. He struck out two.

Brought in to protect a 4-0 lead in the ninth inning, Williams instead made a mess of things before Mark Leiter had to replace him and record the final out for his first save of the year. While it doesn't go down as a blown save or a loss for the Airbender, it's still the third time in his first four appearances as a Yankee that Williams has been charged with at least one run, leading to a 12.00 ERA and 5:4 K:BB through his first three innings in pinstripes. The average velocity on his fastball is down slightly to begin the season, but he topped out at 95.3 mph Wednesday on a strikeout of Colt Keith, and the movement on his elite changeup is in its usual range. All indicators suggest that Williams' numbers will quickly return to normal once the weather warms up.

Fried (2-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 4-3 victory over the Tigers, scattering five hits over seven scoreless innings. He struck out 11 without walking a batter.

In a battle of high-school teammates between Fried and Detroit right-hander Jack Flaherty, both of whom attended Harvard-Westlake in Los Angeles, it was the southpaw who eventually came out on top. Fried fired 66 of 97 pitches for strikes while racking up 36 called or swinging strikes in his best performance yet in pinstripes, and his first quality start of the season. Fried will take a 1.56 ERA and dominant 21:3 K:BB through 17.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Royals.

Jenkins was placed on Double-A Wichita's 7-day injured list Wednesday due to a left ankle sprain, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

It's the same injury that caused Jenkins to be sidelined during spring training. He appeared in two games for Wichita before aggravating the injury, going 1-for-8 with two strikeouts in that span. It's unclear how long Jenkins will spend on the IL while rehabbing from his injury.

Melendez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

The Royals often shield the left-handed-hitting Melendez from opposing southpaws, but he'll take a seat Wednesday while the Twins send a right-hander (Joe Ryan) to the hill. Melendez's move to the bench comes while he's gotten off to a horrid start to the season, slashing .115/.258/.154 with a 38.7 percent strikeout rate over 31 plate appearances. If Melendez is unable to turn things around soon, he could find himself out of the lineup versus righties on a more consistent basis.

Buxton is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Buxton will head to the bench for the first time in 2025 after hitting .171 with one home run, two stolen bases, four RBI and seven runs through Minnesota's first 11 games. His absence clears a spot in the lineup for DaShawn Keirsey, who will occupy right field in his first start of the season.

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Jeffers will take a seat for the second time in the series as he and Christian Vazquez continue their pattern of alternating starts behind the dish. Through seven games this season, Jeffers is hitting .222 with zero home runs, three RBI and one run.

Seager went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Cubs.

Seager opened the scoring with a first-inning homer off Shota Imanaga before adding a second long ball off Nate Pearson in the seventh, extending the Rangers' lead to 6-1. Seager looks to be heating up at the plate -- he now has back-to-back two-hit games after going 5-for-31 (.161) with just one homer in his first nine contests this year.

Mahle (2-0) earned the win Wednesday over the Cubs, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out four.

Mahle was excellent Wednesday, limiting the Cubs to just one extra-base hit over seven innings to record a second straight win and his first quality start since 2023. The 30-year-old right-hander has allowed just two earned runs on five hits across 13.2 innings in his first three starts this season. Mahle will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week at home against the Angels.

Aranda is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

With lefty Yusei Kikuchi on the hill for the Angels, the Rays will counter with a lineup made up entirely of right-handed and switch hitters. Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero will start at first base and designated hitter, respectively, while Aranda's streak of five consecutive starts comes to an end.

Misner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

With lefty Yusei Kikuchi on the hill for the Angels, the Rays will counter with a lineup made up entirely of right-handed and switch hitters. Tampa Bay will roll out an outfield of Christopher Morel, Jake Mangum and Jose Caballero from left to right while Misner sits.
