Hendriks allowed two runs on three hits while striking out one over one inning in Sunday's 8-4 loss to the White Sox.

It had been 22 months since Hendriks last pitched in a major-league game. The right-hander first beat non-Hodgkin's lymphoma before Tommy John elbow surgery sidelined him. He opened the eighth inning, allowing a single to the first batter faced then a two-run home run two batters later. "Some good things to take from it, some not so great things to take from it," Hendriks told Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic. "But, now I can say I've gone out there. Now I can say I've pitched for the Boston Red Sox. Now there's no sentimental value to anything like that. It's go and perform." Returning to the role as a closer may not be in the cards for Hendriks, but the Red Sox want him eventually to be part of a late-game crew.

Cruz earned a save against Tampa Bay on Sunday, issuing three walks and striking out one batter over 1.1 scoreless and hitless innings.

Max Fried gave New York 7.2 splendid scoreless frames, and Cruz was called upon in the bottom of the eighth to get the final out after the Rays put a runner on base. Cruz walked the first batter he faced but escaped further danger by getting Junior Caminero to pop out. The Yankees plated a run in the top of the ninth to eliminate a save opportunity for closer Devin Williams, and Cruz ended up finishing off the victory successfully despite issuing two more free passes. It's been a great start to the season for the 35-year-old reliever, as he's posted a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB over 12 innings while working as one of New York's top high-leverage relievers. Cruz has two saves over his past four appearances, but he's unlikely to see consistent save chances with Williams still the team's primary closer despite some early-season struggles and Luke Weaver the top candidate for most save chances when Williams is unavailable.

Dubin (shoulder/ankle) rolled his ankle while on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land, MLB.com reports.

Dubin is working his way back from a shoulder injury and suffered the ankle injury while playing catch during batting practice. He received imaging Sunday, though the new injury is not expected to be serious.

Meidroth (thumb) entered Sunday's game against the Red Sox as a defensive replacement in the eighth inning.

Meidroth was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to tight thumb inflammation, but his ability to enter the game as a defensive replacement suggests the issue is minor. He has served as the White Sox's leadoff batter in each of his last three starts and has maintained an excellent .387 on-base percentage across his first 31 plate appearances in the majors.

Palacios went 1-for-3 with a run scored Sunday against the Red Sox.

Palacios was recalled April 10 to replace Mike Tauchman (hamstring) on the roster. The White Sox have faced a right-handed starter only six times across 10 games since, though Palacios has been in the lineup each of the last five times. He's gone only 3-for-19 since being recalled, but he may have the chance to maintain the role until Tauchman can return.

Valdez allowed two runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out two in six innings Sunday versus the Padres. He did not factor into the decision.

Valdez exhibited some early command issues with three walks and a run allowed in his first two innings. The Padres put up another run in the third after Fernando Tatis led off the frame with a triple. Valdez settled in with three scoreless frames over the back half of his start and ended at 87 pitches while pounding the zone with 63 strikes. It's been mixed results for Valdez through his first five starts, but he lowered his ERA to 4.50 after allowing seven runs against St. Louis to open up the week. He'll try to get back in the win column for the first time since his debut in a road start versus the Royals over the weekend.

Vargas went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored Sunday against the Red Sox.

Vargas served as the White Sox's leadoff hitter in 10 of the team's first 17 games, but he struggled mightily and had just a .429 OPS entering Sunday's game. He's remained an everyday player but has dropped to the bottom half of the order in each of his last three starts.

Adell went 1-for-4 with a walk-off three-run double in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Giants.

Adell picked an opportune time for his first hit of the afternoon. He timed up a two-strike slider versus Ryan Walker and lined it into the gap in left field to clear the bases and cap off a four-run comeback in the ninth inning. It's the third game this season for Adell with three-plus RBI. Outside of those three games, he's totaled just two RBI and two extra-base hits.

Thaiss went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Sunday against the Red Sox.

Thaiss has alternated starts behind the plate with Edgar Quero since the latter was promoted to the majors Thursday. Thaiss hasn't had much success at the plate, with Sunday's homer being his first of the season and only his third total extra-base hit across 45 plate appearances. He may lose additional playing time once Quero gets more comfortable at the big-league level, further limiting Thaiss's fantasy appeal.

Neto went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Giants.

Neto got the Angels on the board in the fifth with a solo blast off Justin Verlander. He was then right in the thick of the team's four-run, ninth-inning comeback with an RBI before scoring the winning run. Both of Neto's hits have gone for extra bases through his first three starts of the year, adding more power to a lineup that's fourth in baseball with 33 home runs.
