Benintendi is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics.

Benintendi's left-handed bat will step out of the starting nine Saturday with southpaw Jeffrey Springs set to toe the slab for the A's. Brooks Baldwin will start in left field with Benintendi out, and Bobby Dalbec will claim the open spot in the lineup while starting at first base.

Palacios isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics.

The lefty-hitting Palacios will sit down Saturday against the lefty-throwing Jeffrey Springs. Michael Taylor will start in right field and bat sixth.

Maton was designated for assignment Saturday.

The White Sox traded for infielder Gage Workman and Maton will lose his spot on the roster as a result. Maton, 28, has hit below .175 in each of his big-league stints over the past three seasons.

Workman was traded from the Cubs to the White Sox on Saturday in exchange for cash.

The move was done prior to Saturday's game, so it's possible Workman will be available. Nick Maton was designated for assignment to make room on the roster. The Cubs plucked Workman from the Tigers in this year's Rule 5 draft, but he was barely playing (15 plate appearances) and had a 40 percent strikeout rate. Workman, who is a good defensive infielder and can handle multiple spots, should work in a utility infielder role for the White Sox.

Mederos was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Mederos gave up two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out two in three innings of relief in Friday's game in Minnesota. Jake Eder was recalled to take on the Angels' long-relief duties in the short term.

The Angels designated Edwards for assignment Saturday.

The 33-year-old journeyman had a 9.00 ERA and 1.67 WHIP through two appearances. Edwards will be replaced in the bullpen by promising relief prospect Jose Fermin.

The Angels selected Fermin's contract from Double-A Rocket City on Saturday.

Fermin is one of the top relief pitching prospects in the minors, standing an intimidating 6-foot-3, 242 pounds and possessing an electric fastball/slider combo. He had a 1.13 ERA, 0.50 WHIP and 15:1 K:BB in eight innings at Double-A.

Eder was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Once a top prospect in the Marlins' system, Eder is now on his third team and in his first year as a member of the Angels. He had a 6.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB in nine innings across three starts in the Pacific Coast League. Eder appears poised to work in a long-relief role.

Julien isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels.

Julien will get a breather Saturday after drawing four walks and scoring three runs in the series opener. Brooks Lee will shift to second base, allowing Jonah Bride to start at third base and bat sixth.

The Twins placed Keaschall (forearm) on the 10-day injured list Saturday.

Keaschall suffered a right forearm fracture after getting hit by a pitch in the first inning of Friday's game. The Twins haven't provided a timeline for the 22-year-old's return just yet, but it will likely be several weeks before he's ready to come off the IL.
