The Mariners recalled Saucedo from Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday.

Saucedo was sent to the minors in early April after allowing four earned runs in just 2.2 innings. Since then, he's given up only one run in 6.1 frames at Tacoma, and he'll now rejoin the Mariners' bullpen to give depth to a pitching staff that is now without Logan Gilbert (elbow).

The Mariners placed Gilbert on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to a right elbow flexor strain.

Gilbert underwent an MRI on Saturday which revealed a Grade 1 flexor strain, per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. The good news is that the injury strain isn't more severe, but Gilbert will not throw for the next two weeks before being re-evaluated to determine the next steps in his recovery program.

McDermott (lat) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Chesapeake on Sunday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

McDermott has been on the injured list all season due to a right lat strain that he suffered in February. He's been facing hitters at the team's complex in Florida for the past several days and has now been given the green light to test his lat in a competitive setting. Because he missed nearly all of spring camp, he will likely require several starts in the minors before being activated off the IL.

The Orioles optioned Young to Triple-A Norfolk following the Orioles' 4-3 loss to the Tigers in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

Young took the loss in the matinee, allowing three runs on four hits and five walks while striking out six in 4.2 innings. Young started two games for the Orioles, and his move to Triple-A indicates that Kyle Gibson (back) could make his season debut next week. Grant Wolfram was recalled from Norfolk in a corresponding move.

Wolfram began the season with Milwaukee but never appeared in a game before he was shipped to Baltimore on April 7. Since the trade, he's allowed six earned runs in just 5.2 innings while striking out six batters and walking three. He'll give the Orioles some extra bullpen depth for the second game of their doubleheader against Detroit, though he likely will only be used in low-leverage situations. Brandon Young was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Laureano is not in the Orioles' starting lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Laureano started in right field in Game 1 and went 0-for-4 at the plate. He'll be in the dugout for the start of Saturday's nightcap with Heston Kjerstad, Cedric Mullins and Ryan O'Hearn starting in the outfield.

Carpenter is not in the Tigers' starting lineup for second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

Carpenter served as the designated hitter in Game 1 and went 0-for-4 with one walk and two strikeouts. With the Orioles sending southpaw Keegan Akin to the mound, Carpenter will begin Game 2 in the dugout while Gleyber Torres fills in as the DH and bats leadoff.

Abreu isn't in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Guardians, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Abreu belted a three-run homer in the early game Saturday, and he'll retreat to the bench in the nightcap with lefty Doug Nikhazy set to start on the bump for Cleveland. Rob Refsnyder will patrol right field and bat fifth while Abreu sits.

Casas isn't in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against Cleveland, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

After going 1-for-3 with a walk during a loss in Game 1, Casas will take a seat on the bench to conclude Saturday's festivities while southpaw Doug Nikhazy toes the slab for Cleveland. Romy Gonzalez will fill in at first base and bat sixth.

Smith isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals.

Smith will get a day to rest Saturday after going 0-for-2 with a walk in Friday's series opener. Zach Dezenzo will take his place in right field and bat seventh.
