Blubaugh (0-1) was charged with the loss Wednesday against the Tigers after giving up seven runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out six.

The right-hander gave up a single run in each of the first two innings, and an error from shortstop Jeremy Pena preceded five unearned runs in the third, though that's a fortunate fact for Blubaugh given that he surrendered a grand slam. Besides the unearned runs, the 24-year-old's final line actually looks decent, though it won't help him stick in the majors since Lance McCullers (forearm) is coming off the injured list this weekend. According to Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston, Blubaugh is expected to be optioned back to Triple-A Sugar Land ahead of Friday's series opener versus the White Sox.

Roden is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Roden sat against left-handers in the Blue Jays' last two games, but he's been omitted from Wednesday's lineup despite the Red Sox sending right-hander Lucas Giolito to the mound. With Daulton Varsho back from his shoulder injury and George Springer manning right field, Roden is now competing with Nathan Lukes, Myles Straw and Addison Barger for Toronto's last outfield spot. Roden has failed to record a hit in each of his last eight games, going 0-for-22 with eight strikeouts over that span.

Massey is not in the Royals' starting lineup against the Rays on Wednesday.

Even though the Rays are sending right-hander Drew Rasmussen to the mound, the lefty-hitting Massey will begin Wednesday's game in the dugout while Cavan Biggio starts at second base and bats eighth. Massey has struggled to start the season, slashing .188/.206/.219 with four runs scored and nine RBI in 103 plate appearances.

Aranda is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

The lefty-hitting Aranda will get the night off while the Royals send southpaw Noah Cameron to the hill Wednesday. Curtis Mead will check in for Aranda at first base.

Caballero will start in right field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Royals, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Though he'll be filling in for the left-handed-hitting Kameron Misner in the outfield while the Royals send a southpaw (Noah Cameron) to the bump, Caballero could up seeing steadier playing time at shortstop against right-handers moving forward. Taylor Walls will man shortstop Wednesday, but Caballero had started at the position in four of the previous six contests.

Misner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

With southpaw Noah Cameron toeing the rubber for Kansas City, the lefty-hitting Misner will retreat to the bench. Jose Caballero will fill in for Misner in right field.

Trout was removed in the fourth inning of Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Jo Adell pinch hit for Trout in the fourth inning, and an update on the latter's removal should be provided by the Angels during or shortly after the conclusion of Wednesday's game. Trout has begun the season slashing .173/.261/.462 with two stolen bases, 14 runs scored, nine home runs and 18 RBI over 119 plate appearances.

Higashioka reported tightness in his hamstring and is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

The Rangers are going to hold off on placing Higashioka on the injured list for now, but he may need to be deactivated if his condition doesn't improve after a few days of rest. Tucker Barnhart was added to the active roster from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday to give Texas another option behind the plate while Higashioka recovers.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Wednesday that the hope is for LeMahieu (calf/hip) to resume his rehab assignment Friday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

LeMahieu was shut down from his rehab assignment Tuesday after receiving a cortisone injection in his right hip, but he is on track to resume his assignment with Double-A Somerset on Friday. He was placed on the 10-day injured list at the beginning of the season due to a left calf strain that he suffered in early March. How LeMahieu's calf and hip react over the next few rehab games will determine his timeline for a return to the majors.

The Rangers selected Barnhart's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Barnhart will join the major-league roster for the first time this season to provide Texas with some depth behind the plate while Kyle Higashioka nurses a hamstring injury. Barnhart owns just a .541 OPS in the majors since 2022 but has shown more promise in the minors this year with a .246/.354/.391 slash line through 89 plate appearances.
