The Red Sox reinstated Bernardino from the bereavement list Saturday.

After spending three days away from the team to tend to personal matters, Bernardino will return to Boston's bullpen for Saturday's game against Minnesota. The 33-year-old southpaw has thrived in middle relief so far this year, posting a 2.45 ERA and 0.82 WHIP alongside a 10:2 K:BB across 11 innings.

The Red Sox optioned Guerrero to Triple-A Worcester on Saturday.

Since joining Boston on April 24, Guerrero has pitched four shutout innings while striking out three batters and walking none. Despite his performance, he'll end up as the roster casualty with Brennan Bernardino returning from the bereavement list.

The Red Sox selected Toro's contract from Triple-A Worcester on Saturday.

With Triston Casas (knee) likely out for the rest of the season, the Red Sox will turn to Toro to provide the big club with infield depth. The 28-year-old got off to a great start in the minors, slashing .310/.403/.480 with 13 RBI and 16 runs scored through 119 plate appearances.

The Red Sox placed Casas on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a ruptured left patellar tendon.

Although Casas is only on the 10-day IL for now, his diagnosis almost certainly rules him out for the remainder of the 2025 season. Abraham Toro was selected from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move to give Boston infield depth, though Romy Gonzalez will likely receive the bulk of the starts at first.

Quero isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Houston.

Quero will get a chance to rest Saturday after going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored Friday. Matt Thaiss will catch for Davis Martin and bat seventh.

Smith isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Smith will give way to Zach Dezenzo in right field after going 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in Friday's series opener.

Dubon isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Saturday will mark the third consecutive absence from the lineup for Dubon while Brendan Rodgers starts at second base. Dubon had started three of the Astros' previous four games leading up to Rodgers' stretch of starts, and it seems the two players have fallen into a timeshare at the keystone.

Simpson isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Simpson will step out of the starting nine Saturday with left-hander Ryan Yarbrough set to take the mound for New York. Christopher Morel, Kameron Misner and Jose Caballero will start across the Rays' outfield.

Aranda isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

The Yankees will send lefty Ryan Yarbrough to the mound to begin Saturday's contest, so Aranda will grab a seat on the bench while Curtis Mead starts at first base and bats fifth.

Williams' effort Friday was another positive step forward after a brutal start to the campaign. Williams threw seven of his eight pitches for strikes against the Rays and extended his scoreless and hitless streak to three games since he was demoted from the closer role April 27. His outing Friday was in a relatively high-leverage situation -- the Yankees led by three in the eighth inning when he entered -- and was followed by a clean inning by Luke Weaver, who picked up his third save. Weaver has been dominant all season, so there's likely no urgency for Williams to reclaim New York's closer role, but the latter is at least looking like himself again after posting a 11.25 ERA through his first 10 appearances prior to his demotion.
