Aranda is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

The lefty-hitting Aranda will head to the bench while the Phillies send southpaw Cristopher Sanchez to the mound Wednesday. Aranda isn't in a strict platoon at first base, though he's now sat in three of the Rays' last four matchups with lefties.

Jansen will start at catcher and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Though he's occupying a prominent spot in the order against Phillies southpaw Cristopher Sanchez, Jansen looks like he may have temporarily fallen into the short side of a platoon at catcher. The lefty-hitting Ben Rortvedt has started in each of the Rays' last four matchups versus righties, while each of Jansen's last four starts have come against lefties.

Though he'll hit the bench Wednesday against Phillies southpaw Cristopher Sanchez, but the left-handed-hitting Rortvedt may have taken control of a strong-side platoon role at catcher with Danny Jansen. Rortvedt has started in each of the Rays' last four matchups with right-handed pitchers.

Diaz (hip) will serve as the Rays' designated hitter and leadoff batter in Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Diaz exited Tuesday's 8-4 win early due to right hip tightness, but he downplayed the injury after the game and suggested he would be back in action Wednesday. His prediction appears to have come true, and he'll move up to the top of the order after having occupied the No. 3 spot in his previous two starts. The left-handed-hitting Chandler Simpson could continue to bat leadoff against right-handed pitching, but Diaz looks like he'll be the Rays' preferred table setter versus lefties such as the Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez.

High-A Aberdeen placed Sosa on the 7-day injured list April 11 with an undisclosed injury.

A lefty-hitting outfielder with impressive raw power and plenty of speed on the bases, Sosa came into the year with questions about his hit tool after he batted .230 and struck out at a 29.1 percent clip in 2024. He struck out four times in four games (16 plate appearances) prior to the injury and doesn't turn 21 until January.

Caglianone went 3-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI and a strikeout in Tuesday's game for Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Caglianone has now homered in three straight games and is up to eight homers in 28 games. He is slashing .330/.406/.606 with an 11.7 percent walk rate, a 23.4 percent strikeout rate and a 39.4 percent hard-hit rate. Caglianone's last two starts have come at his natural position of first base, but he has picked up four starts in right field in the last two weeks in an effort to open up another path to 2025 playing time with the big club.

Polanco will serve as the Mariners' designated hitter and No. 2 batter in Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

In Tuesday's 5-3 win, Polanco drew a start at second base, which marked his first start in the infield since April 4. Polanco had been limited to DH duties for the past month while managing a side injury that affects his throwing and inhibits him when he bats from the right side of the plate, but his usage at the keystone offers hope that he may be nearing the finish line in his recovery. The Mariners plan to have Polanco serve as their everyday third baseman once the injury is fully behind him, but he may have started at second base Tuesday due to the shorter throws that he would need to make at the position.

Mastrobuoni is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Mastrobuoni had started in the corner outfield in each of the last three games, but his opportunities to play in left or right field will likely become scarcer moving forward with Randy Arozarena moving past a hamstring injury and with the Mariners claiming Leody Taveras off waivers. The versatile Mastrobuoni could still fill in occasionally at second or third base, though Dylan Moore and Ben Williamson seem to be ahead of him in the pecking order for playing time at either of those spots.

Rivas is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

The 27-year-old had started at second base six times over a seven-game stretch from April 27 through Monday, but his time as a regular in the Seattle lineup appears to be over after Dylan Moore (hip) returned from the injured list Tuesday. Rivas will hit the bench for the second straight day while Moore picks up the start at the keystone.

Taveras will start in right field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game versus the Athletics.

It will be the Mariners debut for Taveras, who was claimed off waivers from the Rangers on Tuesday and officially added to the roster Wednesday. The switch hitter could receive regular playing time in right field for Seattle while Victor Robles (shoulder) and Luke Raley (oblique) are shelved.
