Almeyda (shoulder) has gone 3-for-7 with a triple, a walk, a stolen base, two runs and three RBI in three games for the Orioles' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate.

Almeyda didn't play after July 25 last season due to a right shoulder injury, but the 19-year-old appears to have moved past the issue at some point prior to the start of the 2025 FCL campaign. He finished the 2024 season with a .200/.337/.316 slash line to go with five home runs and 12 stolen bases over 53 games in the FCL.

Scherzer (thumb) threw a bullpen session Wednesday and then faced live hitters for 20 more pitches, Andres Soto of MLB.com reports.

The 40-year-old right-hander has been dealing with thumb issues on his throwing hand since making his season debut March 29, but after receiving multiple cortisone shots in the digit, he appears to be making progress. "Good, really good," manager John Schneider said after Scherzer's session off the game mound at Angel Stadium. "Twenty pitches after he threw in the 'pen. And then I thought standing back there, his stuff was really good... So that's a really good step in the right direction." The Blue Jays will wait and see how Scherzer bounces back before determining the next step in his rehab, but tentative plans call for him to get stretched out a little more in another session against live hitters this weekend in Seattle. The earliest Scherzer would be eligible to come off the 60-day IL is May 29, but a June return appears more likely as Toronto won't want to rush him back into the rotation.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Buehler (shoulder) remains limited to playing catch, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Buehler's goal when he went on the 15-day injured list last Friday with minor bursitis in his right shoulder was to resume throwing off a mound by the end of this week and return when first eligible May 14. Those possibilities still appear to be on the table, but he will have to be cleared for mound work soon in order to have a chance to return next week against the Tigers.

Holliday will start at second base and bat second in Thursday's game versus the Twins.

The hot-hitting Holliday had been elevated to the No. 6 spot in the lineup for each of his last five starts, and now he'll now bat second - which is the highest he's batted this season - for the series finale against the Twins. Holliday is slashing .313/.421/.500 with three home runs and one stolen base across his last 17 contests.

Rutschman is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Minnesota.

Rutschman had started each of the previous eight contests, so he'll be given a rest for Thursday's matinee. Maverick Handley is starting at catcher and batting ninth for the Orioles in the series finale.

Mullins is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Mullins is presumably getting some rest for the day game after a night game, marking his first absence from the lineup since April 27. With Mullins on the bench, Ramon Laureano will cover center field, while Gunnar Henderson will slide up to the leadoff spot.

Heim is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox.

After starting at catcher or designated hitter in each of the Rangers' last 11 games, Heim will get a much-needed day off as Texas wraps up its series in Boston. Dustin Harris will get a turn as the Rangers' DH on Thursday while Tucker Barnhart handles catching duties.

Seager is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Boston.

Seager started each of the Rangers' first four games upon his activation from the injured list, but he'll get some rest for Thursday's matinee. Josh Smith will handle shortstop and bat leadoff for Texas.

The Orioles recalled Selby from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Selby has allowing two runs with a 4:0 K:BB across two innings during his time with the big club this season. The right-handed reliever will provide manager Brandon Hyde with a fresh bullpen arm.

The Orioles designated Bowman for assignment Thursday.

Bowman made 10 appearances out of the Orioles' bullpen, allowing 11 runs (10 earned) with a 12:3 K:BB over 17.1 frames. His spot in the bullpen will be absorbed by Colin Selby.
