  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Clears concussion protocol

Buxton cleared concussion protocol Friday and is considered day-to-day, Audra Martin of FanDuel Sports Network North reports.

Buxton will not require a trip to the 7-day concussion IL after colliding with Carlos Correa during Thursday's contest, though the same cannot be said for the latter. Buxton will sit down for Friday's series opener against Milwaukee but could return sometime later this weekend.

  • Athletics' Jason Alexander: Sent back to Triple-A

The Athletics designated Alexander for assignment to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Alexander was lit up for three homers and gave up nine earned runs in 2.1 innings during Thursday's 19-2 blowout defeat against the Dodgers. His dreadful performance will result in him returning to the minors alongside Osvaldo Bido, with Matt Krook and Anthony Maldonado coming up from Las Vegas to replace them.

  • Osvaldo Bido RP | CHW

Athletics' Osvaldo Bido: Optioned to Triple-A

The Athletics optioned Bido to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Bido earned a spot on the Athletics' Opening Day roster, but he struggled across his nine starts, posting a 5.82 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 29:18 K:BB across 43.1 innings. He'll go down to Triple-A to regain his form while Matt Krook and Anthony Maldonado join the big-league pitching staff.

  • Athletics' Anthony Maldonado: Promoted to big leagues

The Athletics selected Maldonado's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Maldonado has been brilliant in the minors this season, posting a dominant 0.73 ERA and 0.66 WHIP with a 17:2 K:BB in 12.1 innings with Las Vegas. He'll now join the struggling Athletics bullpen alongside Matt Krook, replacing Jason Alexander and Osvaldo Bido on the big-league pitching staff.

  • Dylan Moore 1B | PHI

Mariners' Dylan Moore: Sitting again Friday

Moore is not in the Mariners' starting lineup against the Padres on Friday.

Moore will be out Seattle's lineup for a second straight game while Miles Mastrobuoni starts at third base and bats eighth. Moore is slashing .286/.343/.538 with seven steals, seven home runs and 13 RBI across 102 plate appearances this season.

  • Matt Krook RP | WAS

Athletics' Matt Krook: Selected from Vegas

The Athletics selected Krook's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Krook signed a minor-league deal with the A's during the offseason and has since turned in a 3.21 ERA and 1.57 WHIP alongside a 21:8 K:BB across 14 innings in Triple-A. Searching for some answers in their bullpen, the Athletics will give the 30-year-old southpaw another look in the bigs. However, with 13 earned runs allowed in just five career MLB innings, Krook will almost certainly be limited to a low-leverage role.

  • Jo Adell RF | CLE

Angels' Jo Adell: Taking seat Friday

Adell isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Adell will grab a seat on the bench Friday after going 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored during the Halos' last series in San Diego. His absence will put Jorge Soler in right field, moving Luis Rengifo into the DH spot while Tim Anderson starts at the keystone.

  • Kyren Paris LF | LAA

    Angels' Kyren Paris: Sitting Friday

Paris isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Paris will sit down for a second consecutive contest after going 1-for-19 across his last six games. Matthew Lugo will pick up another start in center field and bat eighth as a result.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: In Friday's lineup

Crawford (shoulder) is starting at shortstop and batting out of the leadoff spot against the Padres on Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Crawford was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Yankees due to shoulder tightness, but the veteran shortstop has been cleared to play in Friday's series opener. Crawford has gone 12-for-50 with one stolen base, one home run and four RBI since the beginning of May.

  • Michael Tonkin RP | MIN

Twins' Michael Tonkin: Moved to 60-day IL

The Twins transferred Tonkin (shoulder/biceps) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Tonkin started the season on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder strain. He was cleared for a rehab assignment in mid-April and made six appearances in the minors, but his throwing program was paused due to right biceps tendinitis. Tonkin's lastest setback could mean that the veteran right-hander is on the shelf until the All-Star break. Ryan Fitzgerald was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move.
