Burke (2-5) took the loss Saturday, coughing up six runs (five earned) on seven hits and five walks over 4.2 innings as the White Sox were downed 7-3 by the Cubs. He struck out four.

It's the third time in nine starts that Burke has been tagged for at least five earned runs, and the 25-year-old righty's control continues to desert him -- he's issued a career-worst five free passes in back-to-back outings and multiple walks in eight straight. Burke will carry a 4.69 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 33:27 K:BB through 48 innings into his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Rangers.

LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Mets.

In his third game since recovering from calf and hip injuries to make his belated season debut, LeMahieu was able to poke a Griffin Canning fastball down the right-field line into the Yankee Stadium short porch for a third-inning homer, and his first long ball of the year. The 36-year-old infielder has three hits in eight at-bats since being activated, and he should see regular playing time at second base while Jazz Chisholm (oblique) remains sidelined.

Schmidt didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Mets, allowing two runs on three hits and five walks over six innings. He struck out five.

The five free passes tied Schmidt's career high, but he was able to limit the damage and deliver his third straight quality start on 88 pitches (53 strikes). The right-hander will carry a 4.41 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 30:17 K:BB through 32.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Rangers.

Simpson suffered a bloody nose and lip during Saturday's game against the Marlins but is expected to play Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Simpson suffered a concerning looking injury after being tagged out at home plate in the ninth inning of Saturday's game. However, he avoided serious injury and could avoid missing any additional time.

Gilbert (elbow) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Gilbert threw off a mound for the second time since landing on the injured list in late April, though he didn't increase his pitch count. It's a positive sign that he's been able to throw off a mound two times in the span of five days, but the Mariners haven't yet provided a clear timeline for his return. Per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com, Gilbert will require another bullpen session before progressing to live batting practice.

Simpson was removed from Saturday's game against the Rays with an apparent injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Simpson looked to be in a considerable amount of pain after being tagged out at the plate in the ninth inning. After being tended to by the Rays' trainers, he was able to walk off the field under his own power. It's not immediately clear what kind of injury he's dealing with, but the team should offer more information relatively soon.

Ginn (elbow) will be activated off the injured list to start Monday's game against the Angels, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Ginn landed on the injured list in late April due to right elbow inflammation. He pitched in a rehab game at Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday and tossed 3.1 shutout innings while striking out five batters and walking two. Because his minor-league outing was so brief, he may work under a workload restriction during his first start back with the A's, though the team hasn't confirmed any such plans.

McCusker is expected to be called up from Triple-A St. Paul before Sunday's game against the Brewers, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports.

McCusker will take the place of Byron Buxton, who was placed on the 7-day concussion IL on Saturday. McCusker signed with the Twins as a UDFA in 2023 and isn't viewed as a top prospect as a 27-year old playing in Triple-A. However, he's hitting .350 with 10 home runs and a 1.062 OPS in 38 games this year with St. Paul, so he may get a chance to prove he's for real with the Twins having several openings in the lineup due to injury.

The Twins placed Buxton on the 7-day concussion injured list Saturday.

It had previously been reported that Buxton cleared concussion protocol after bumping heads with Carlos Correa (concussion) on Thursday, but that has turned out not to be the case. Buxton's move is retroactive to Friday, so he'll be required to miss only six more days before being eligible for activation, and the Twins will make a corresponding move to fill his roster spot Sunday.

Carter has been removed from the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Houston due to a quadriceps injury.

Carter was originally slated to start in center field, but he's since been replaced by Sam Haggerty. According to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, Carter is dealing with right quad tightness, though manager Bruce Bochy called the outfielder's late scratch cautionary. Landry also reports that Carter was already slated to begin on the bench Sunday, and with the Rangers off Monday, that means Carter will get three total days of rest before potentially returning to action Tuesday versus the Yankees.
