Cecconi won't start as scheduled Wednesday against the Dodgers due to mild groin tightness, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

It's not believed to be a serious injury, but the Cecconi will be pushed back from making his third start of the season Wednesday. The Guardians could have the right-hander pitch this weekend versus the Angels, but team off days Thursday and Monday would allow Cleveland to simply skip his turn through the rotation to provide Cecconi some extra rest.

Mullins is being rested for a second game in a row Tuesday against the Cardinals, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

The lefty-hitting Mullins typically plays against most lefties and all righties, yet he's now sat in three of the last four games -- all against righties. Mullins is hitting .211 with two home runs, one steal and a 33.3 percent strikeout rate over the last 10 games. Jorge Mateo is getting a rare start against a righty in Mullins' place.

Rutschman (head) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

It's the second straight game on the bench for Rutschman after he took a foul tip to the mask Sunday against the Red Sox. According to Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun, interim manager Tony Mansolino said Rutschman is scheduled to take batting practice Tuesday, weather permitting, and could be back in the lineup soon.

Penrod (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list Tuesday and optioned to Triple-A Worcester, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Penrod opened the year on the IL with a left elbow UCL sprain and he was activated after one scoreless rehab appearance Saturday in the Florida Complex League. The 27-year-old lefty will knock some rust off at Triple-A before potentially being an option in the majors later this summer.

Lee (ankle) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Mets.

Backup catcher Matt Thaiss was traded to the Rays for a low-level prospect (Dru Baker) Tuesday in advance of Lee's activation. Edgar Quero should continue to play more than Lee, although Quero could start getting another start or two at designated hitter each week to provide Lee with more opportunities. Lee hit .333 with a .417 BABIP and zero home runs in 17 plate appearances before landing on the shelf. He hit .302 with two home runs in 11 rehab games.

Santana (leg) is starting at first base and batting fifth Tuesday versus the Dodgers.

The veteran first baseman sat out the past two games due to left leg tightness but will rejoin the starting nine Tuesday against Los Angeles righty Dustin May. Santana is in the midst of a modest six-game hit streak, and he's gone 8-for-21 with five walks, two doubles, two homers, six RBI and six runs during that span.

The Guardians optioned Cantillo to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

The left-hander has been solid in relief for Cleveland this year with a 3.81 ERA across 28.1 innings, but he'll head to the minors after giving up a run over three innings Monday versus the Dodgers. Hunter Gaddis (personal) was reinstated from the bereavement list in a corresponding move. According to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com, Cantillo will be stretched out as a starter with Columbus.

The Rays transferred DeLuca (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.

DeLuca has been on the shelf since April 6 due to a right shoulder strain and is eligible to return June 6. He looks like a strong candidate to be activated on or around that date, as he's already in the midst of a rehab assignment and has gone 2-for-5 with a walk and a strikeout in two games in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. DeLuca is expected to move his assignment to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, per MLB.com. Once DeLuca is activated from the IL, Kameron Misner (.407 OPS in May) or Chandler Simpson (.640 OPS in May) could be at risk of losing out on a spot in Tampa Bay's everyday outfield.

Thaiss was traded from the White Sox to the Rays on Tuesday in exchange for Dru Baker.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times speculates that Ben Rortvedt's roster spot will be in jeopardy when Thaiss joins the team, so the latter appears set to take over as Danny Jansen's backup. The lefty-hitting Thaiss slashed .212/.382/.294 with one home run, one steal and more walks (23) than strikeouts (21) in 110 plate appearances with the White Sox.

The Guardians reinstated Gaddis (personal) from the bereavement list Tuesday.

The right-hander stepped away from the team for a few days for personal reasons but is back on the active roster ahead of Tuesday's matchup with the Dodgers. Gaddis has been a key bullpen piece for Cleveland this season with 13 holds and a 0.86 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB across 21 innings.
