Swanson (1-0) recorded the win Sunday over the A's, giving up one run on one hit in one inning of relief. He struck out one.

Activated from the 60-day IL earlier in the day after recovering from a forearm issue, Swanson entered the game in the top of the eighth inning with the Blue Jays down 3-2 and had trouble finding the plate. In addition to allowing a leadoff single to Willie MacIver, he uncorked a wild pitch and plunked Denzel Clarke with a 91.1 mph fastball before finally escaping the frame with minimal damage. Swanson then found himself in line for the win when Addison Barger launched a go-ahead, three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth. The right-hander could eventually work his way into a high-leverage role, but Sunday's performance suggests Swanson still has some rust to shake off first.

The Royals optioned Blanco to Triple-A Omaha on Monday.

With top prospect Jac Caglianone receiving a call-up to the big leagues and likely to take on an everyday role in the corner outfield, Blanco became an expandable piece for the Royals. Since being activated May 16 following a stint on the injured list, Blanco appeared in just six of the Royals' ensuing 15 games and went 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI while going 1-for-3 in stolen-base attempts.

The Royals selected Caglianone's contract from Triple-A Omaha on Monday.

Caglianone's promotion is official and he will make his major-league debut Tuesday in St. Louis. The 22-year-old earned a call-up after slashing .322/.389/.593 with 15 home runs and two stolen bases over 50 games between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Omaha. Caglianone is expected to see most of his playing time in right field for the Royals, but he can also handle first base.

Manager John Schneider said prior to Sunday's 8-4 win over the Athletics that Varsho's left hamstring injury is a Grade 1 strain, and the Blue Jays are viewing the outfielder as week-to-week, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Though Varsho's hamstring strain is of the mild variety, the week-to-week label means that he's not a lock to return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible June 11. Schneider mentioned Nathan Lukes and Myles Straw as the primary candidates to see reps in center field while Varsho is on the shelf, and Jonatan Clase, Alan Roden and Davis Schneider may also get more opportunities to make starts at either of the corner-outfield spots while Anthony Santander (shoulder) is on the IL.

Rays president of baseball operations Erik Neander said Sunday in an interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that McClanahan (triceps) is expected to throw his first bullpen session Friday.

McClanahan has been out all season after he was removed from his final appearance of spring training March 22 due to left triceps nerve irritation. Though Neander said that the Rays initially expected McClanahan to return from the injured list by the middle of April after follow-up tests on his arm revealed no structural problems, the nerve issue made it more difficult than anticipated for the lefty to regain strength. Just over two months after suffering the injury, McClanahan finally seems to be making some positive strides in his recovery, as he's been steadily increasing his throwing distance off flat ground in recent weeks. He'll take another important step forward in the rehab process when he gets back on the mound later this week, but he still has several more checkpoints to hit before he's activated from the 60-day IL. Neander acknowledged that "if all goes as planned from this point," McClanahan could be ready to join the Tampa Bay rotation "somewhere in late July or early August."

Trammell (calf) has been sent to the rookie-level Florida Complex League Astros to begin a rehab assignment.

Trammell has been shelved all season with a significant right calf strain but is ready to test things out in a game setting. Given the length of his absence, Trammell will require a fairly lengthy rehab assignment.

The Blue Jays are expected to reinstate Gimenez (quadriceps) from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's series opener versus the Phillies, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Gimenez has been on the shelf since May 9 due to a right quad strain, but after completing a four-game rehab assignment at Single-A Dunedin last week while going 2-for-12 with a 2:1 BB:K, he looks like he'll be ready to rejoin the Blue Jays ahead of their six-game week. The 26-year-old should settle back in as Toronto's everyday second baseman, which could result in the hot-hitting Ernie Clement shifting over to third base and Addison Barger moving to right field.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Dominguez will likely undergo tests Monday after the outfielder exited Sunday's 7-3 win over the Dodgers due to a left thumb contusion, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Dominguez injured the thumb when he jammed it into second base on a steal. The 22-year-old had trouble gripping a bat, necessitating his removal from the contest. However, Dominguez said after the game that he was unconcerned and already feeling better. More should be known about Dominguez's status once his test results are in.

The Mariners acquired Jacques from the Dodgers on Monday in exchange for Will Klein, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Jacques has spent the entirety of the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he's posted a 6.04 ERA but also a 24:8 K:BB over 22.1 innings. He will provide the Mariners with some experienced left-handed relief depth at Triple-A Tacoma.

Weissert struck out one over a scoreless eighth inning to earn a hold in Sunday's 3-1 win over Atlanta.

With Justin Slaten (shoulder) landing on the injured list prior to Sunday's game, Red Sox manager Alex Cora turned to Weissert to preserve the lead for closer Aroldis Chapman. Weissert has been sneaky good out of the Boston's bullpen, recording a 2.08 ERA over 13 appearances during the month of May.
